We are very passionate about the benefits of the SUN ☀️ around here, and I wanted to share an email from @carnivoreaurelius with 10 tips to tan more & burn less:

🌅 1. Start earlier in the morning
Morning sun has more infrared light, which actually acts as a natural sunscreen and primes your skin for later exposure. Get outside within an hour of sunrise and your skin will thank you.

🫙 2. Cut seed oils
Seed oils accumulate in your skin cells and are largely responsible for the oxidative damage, dark spots, and burning that people blame on the sun. Everyone notices a difference in how their skin handles the sun once they cut them out.

🐄 3. Increase collagen intake
Collagen is both photo and UV protective. It helps your skin absorb and handle sun exposure without breaking down. Another reason to be collagenmaxxxing daily.

🥩 4. Eat beef liver
Beef liver is nature’s multivitamin and loaded with vitamin A, which builds UV tolerance from the inside out. Think of it as the original internal sunscreen, the one your ancestors actually used. *Beef Liver is recently back in stock.

☕ 5. Drink coffee
Coffee is photoprotective and has been shown to protect against melanoma. Another reason your morning cup is doing more than just waking you up.

🥕 6. Eat raw carrots
Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A and deposits in the skin, building your natural UV defense layer from within. Plus they mop up excess estrogen in the gut. Win-win.

🕶️ 7. Ditch the sunglasses
Your eyes signal your brain and hypothalamus to prepare your skin for sun exposure. Block that signal with sunglasses and your skin goes into the sun blind. Save them for the slopes.

📈 8. Work up to a tan
Your skin adapts to sun exposure exactly like a muscle adapts to training. Start with 15-20 minutes and build over days and weeks. A base tan is your body’s own UV protection. Earn it gradually.

🍊 9. Eat lots of fruit for vitamin C
Vitamin C is essential for collagen synthesis and helps your skin repair and protect itself from UV exposure. Oranges, kiwi, berries– eat them in season and eat them often.

I’d love to hear from the MOMS

What’s one thing you wish you could go back and tell your first time pregnant self? Or pre-kid self? Just that simple. What’s the first thing that comes to mind?

I know we’d like to think we won’t ever experience hair loss, but the statistics just continue to rise. My passion is helping people understand the causes of hair loss and what we can do about it— both topically and internally. And an important part of the equation is prevention. Getting ahead of hair loss, damage, and feeling unhappy with your hair. Women reporting hair loss has been rising fast, and in some countries it nearly doubled in just a few years.

A 2005 study found hair soaked in very common sulfates lost 7x more protein than hair soaked in water alone.

Your hair is about 91% protein, so that damage adds up fast.

This is true of what’s in your bottle: it’s either hurting, neutral, or helping. Why choose products that may be speeding up damage and hair loss when there’s an option available to HELP and REVERSE and PROTECT that doesn’t compromise on ingredients and your health?

God bless America 🇺🇸 hope everyone had a wonderful 4th weekend 🫶🏼 we’ve been a mix of wholesome and lowkey, and I’m a sleepy and nesting gal lol could be 6 weeks, 8 weeks, or 10 weeks 😅 but surely the days left are numbered, and soon life will never be the same as it was. Something about that feels like we are living the American dream. 💙 happy 250 USA! by @mallybates

Products do matter, and they matter a LOT. Anything and everything you use topically and cosmetically plays a role in the health and long term appearance of your body, skin, hair, etc. Synthetic and harsh ingredients have tradeoffs to your health. The goal of most cosmetics is what they can achieve appearance-wise on the surface. But what really gives you long term health, glow, radiance, and helps you THRIVE are natural ingredients that your body loves and recognizes. DM for a full 1:1 consultation 🫶🏼

Can’t win em all! I am obsessed with hair & scalp health and literally have a business transforming heads of hair with incredible product while @serendipichris washes his hair with EGGS!! 🤣 but you know what? I support it. Eggs are a great way to wash your hair if you’re a guy and want to be as natural as possible. For the rest of you, you need me. 😆 by @mallybates

What a day. Things just keep getting more and more real! Had the most beautiful shower today and so many people showed up to support us that it brought both Chris & I to tears. We could never thank everyone enough for the love and care and help— which we know will continue into the life of our child. And that’s just the most special feeling. @ashley_keathley absolutely outdid herself with total planning and prep, truthfully none of it would have happened without her. @kaitlyn_betancour as her sidekick making the trip from corpus and going so far above and beyond, @drmikboozz helping so much with setup.. I just can’t thank yall enough. The community of people we have as a couple just blows me away. 2.5 more months until our lives get a whole lot sweeter ❤️ so many amazing friends not pictured… let’s just say the house was FULL!!!! ❤️❤️ thank you thank you friends!!! by @mallybates

There are so many reasons that I’ve chosen a natural, unmediated home birth. But I want to focus in on the epidural— and how it affects the baby. This is not an anti-epidural post, but an educational one. We talk about epidurals almost exclusively as pain relief. And they do provide pain relief, but there is so much more happening that nobody explains.

Labor pain is not just pain. It is a physiological process driving a hormonal cascade that serves a purpose for both you AND your baby. When you labor without an epidural, your pain drives the release of oxytocin, cortisol, and catecholamines. These hormones don’t just help you cope with labor, they cross the placenta. They help regulate your baby’s heart rate and stress response. They are your baby’s labor support system.

Your pain also drives your movement. The hip sway, rocking, position changes... that movement is helping your baby navigate your pelvis, find the angles they need, work their way through.

When the epidural goes in, your pain stops. But your baby is still experiencing the stress of labor. Without your protective hormones crossing the placenta. Without your movement helping them navigate. Laboring hard, without the hormonal buffer your pain was providing.

This is why we see more fetal heart rate changes after epidural placement. What is less often explained to mothers is why it happens.

Epidurals lower your body’s natural oxytocin production. Women with epidurals are almost 3x more likely to receive Pitocin to keep labor moving. Pitocin itself causes fetal heart rate abnormalities. The combination of both significantly increases the risk of operative delivery.
