On February 1, 2020 my father Juan Aguilar officially signed to take over what you all know as Mama’s Pizza. I thought today would be a perfect day to share our story.

For as long as I can remember, my father always worked in the pizza business. He worked for a major pizza company for 20 years starting in New York, then relocating to Jacksonville. He wanted a change, so he left the company and started all over. He began door dashing, and doing anything for his family. On one of those deliveries, he stumbled across a little pizzeria inside a small shopping center on Baymeadows called Mama’s Pizza (sound familiar?) It intrigued him, so he returned the next day to apply as a driver and got the position.

Everything happens for a reason, and God has a purpose for all of us. Mamas previous owner, was looking to retire but wanted to leave it in good hands. After talking it over with family (me and my sister approved cause we actually loved the pizza compared to what we ate growing up) He bought Mama’s and made it into his own.

It was far from perfect. We officially took over February 2020, 1 month before COVID shutdown. The pandemic and staff shortage were our biggest challenges, but we didn’t give up, and it was actually a blessing in disguise! (Thank you @Instagram!😂) We made our weaknesses our advantages and kept moving forward!

Now here we are, 3 years later continuing to proudly serve Jacksonville as a Latin Owned Business. One of biggest secrets no one tells you in business is working for someone is way easier than working for yourself, but the most rewarding one is the one you put most passion, love, y MUCHAS GANAS! These 3 years were full of mistakes, lessons, but also new memories and people ❤️

If you’ve been following us since 2020, Hi, and thank you for supporting! If you’re new, welcome! ☺️ #mamaspizza

Never Forget 🕊️

25 years later, we still remember and honor all the lives that were lost and affected from this tragedy, as well as all the first responders that put their lives on the line to save others. As New Yorkers, this day is one that will always follow us no matter where we are.

Today at Mamas, we wanted to give back to our local first responders that look out for us. We stopped by a few stations, and invited a few to have a bite with us as a small way to thank them for everything they do.

25 years later, we still remember.
