If I had one wish, it would be to remain a student for life.

When I started teaching..everything was falling into place. I loved what I was doing but somewhere a part of me was still missing.

After chikungunya, I wanted to take a little break. But that little break kept getting longer. Maybe it was procrastination, maybe a dip in confidence or maybe I just did not know how to get myself back.

And then I realised how much I missed being a student. I missed training. I missed learning, making mistakes, figuring out movements and simply being in a room where I didn’t have to be the one teaching.

I still remember travelling all the way from Thane to Bandra, late at night, just to attend one class. And the happiness that one class brought me! I don’t think I can ever explain it.

Somewhere along the way, watching my own students brought back those little memories. Their excitement, their smiles, the way they cherished every dance and every little achievement. It reminded me of the person I was when I first started dancing.

And here I am, taking classes again, learning from some beautiful teachers and slowly finding my way back to myself.

Perhaps the introvert in me always found it difficult to express herself through words, but through movement, she could communicate so much.

I guess that’s why I want to be a student for life.
Because no matter how much I teach, I never want to stop learning. ❤️
