Happy Thanksgiving DAY 2024!!! Huge Hugs & HEAPS OF LOVE TO ALL!! 🍁❤️🎉 Sitting a few weeks ago in Vienna, on a quick opera jaunt (& relishing the heavenly autumnal sunshine)! by @manfredflynnkuhnert

This Thanksgiving… to you & your cherished ones… on two legs or four… every imaginable blessing. Peter and I are profoundly grateful for being graced with almost 18 years of our beloved Benji completing our little family.

Just missing his big birthday (which would have been November 12th), he passed away naturally on the couch at home.

As so many of you know - these little critters are a gift from God. We are just lucky to be their humans.

Now when I say my prayers, I know my Mom, my Dad, and our little Benji are reunited for the first time in five years, together in heaven… three Guardian Angels… one with the cutest little paws. 🐾 by @manfredflynnkuhnert

Nicky Dunne has invited me to HOST Heywood Hill’s CHRISTMAS KICK-OFF... as their FIRST-EVER “Honorary Book Elf”! ONE DAY ONLY!🎉😊🙏🏻📚❤️ A true Christmas Honor!

(My kind-hearted friend Artemis Cooper JUST coined the term “Literary DJ !!!”, which I think is kinda the coolest compliment ever!)🤣

I’ve volunteered to RECOMMEND my FAVORITE BOOKS & WRITERS of the season to delight your spouse, kids, grandkids, friends & holiday hosts! (Doing my very best😃 “Sorting Hat” impression from HARRY POTTER!)

It’s DECEMBER on 4th! 10am-6pm, including some of your FAVORITE British AUTHORS… like a scene out of a 1940s Nancy Mitford Novel!!!

Please Join Me & Our Whole Gang as we champion OUR FAVORITE INDEPENDENT BOOKSHOP IN THE WORLD 🎉📚 🌍‼️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL & TO ALL A GOOD READ!!! ❤️😊📚😊❤️ by @manfredflynnkuhnert

😃CHEERS to my BRILLIANT London friends, whom I’ve been missing while an ocean away✈️!!! 🇬🇧🥰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 I’m “chomping at the bit” to get back & see you all SOON; here it’s been LOVELY 🙏🏻 catching up with beloved USA friends during this unexpected respite on home shores🏡❤️🇺🇸!!! 🤣A pair of titanium “French doors” in my neck got a bit wonky this winter, so I’ve been grounded State Side longer than expected! However, I’m happy to report that our dog Benji🐶, is positively THRIVING at 17 ½ (thanks to Peter’s home cooking)!

AS SUMMER is finally here, we’re wishing everyone❤️ (on both sides of the Atlantic!) the HAPPIEST of DAYS with the sun shining endlessly and most importantly… hoping your June plans are already in the works with beloved family & friends – to make you smile from ear to ear!

(I am GIDDY to be returning ASAP to my “happiest place on earth”… an airport lounge! Huzzah!) 🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧✈️ by @manfredflynnkuhnert

My inspiring Sister❤️ for whom I’m bursting with brotherly love & pride.

This Christmas Eve before heading out, we shared one of those precious, VIVID, sibling moments “outside of time”… giggling at a 1983 Christmas memory of our Mom & Dad like we were kids again - me 10 years older - but her always 20 years wiser since birth!

It’s just the 2 of us now. Many of you dear friends were exceedingly kind to us when we unexpectedly said goodbye to our beloved Mom this year, as we did with our Dad four years ago… this Christmas we’ve begun a new chapter of our lives, crossing that great Rubicon, together, hand in hand, inseparably.

During this Feast of the Family - a TOAST to those who journey with us - knowing where we’ve been… loving us where we are… and dreaming with hope for our futures.

God bless you Tara.
You are the grace in my life. by @manfredflynnkuhnert

A NEW look for our Christmas table✨ I’ve tried to make a 19th century-inspired, illuminated forest🙏🏻✨ (😃I got the idea from a 🌲Victorian Christmas card I found on the Oxford High Street!) ❤️Happy Christmas Eve EVE to all of YOU cherished friends!!! Every BLESSING!!! by @manfredflynnkuhnert

Tree #2! Our first “international tree”!😃This year, our living room hosts all of our “far & wide” ornaments - obsessively 😂hand-carried home from our peripatetic jaunts! From Zanzibar to Shanghai, Chang Mai to Morocco, Petra to Patagonia and you-name-it-in-between, it’s on this tree!!🎉 (Including just a smidge of Europe via Sicilia!) Together they’ve found a new home and created quite the community!

Like so many of you guys, Peter and I try to envelope ourselves within a quilt of memories. However far we go, Peter & I try to bring back “a patch of visual fabric” for this quilt… sometimes small & sometimes “not so small”🤣 (to Peter’s shipping-organizing chagrin)! But years on, it’s always been worth the administrative headaches - like these two gilded Burmese cabinets portraying scenes from the life of Buddha, which we found in Rangoon two decades ago. I can’t walk by them without thinking of Peter and me in the old Strand Hotel, learning the history of this noble land… before setting off for the temples of Bagan, Mandalay and Inle Lake… a wooden floating city like Venice in the 8th century! (Even the Tony Duquette pagodas atop seem made for this space, in front of the French mirrors from Antibes!)

In this way, our house has become a living scrapbook of our 25 years together. Each page written in days lived. Again & anew, with a quick gaze at a table or a gramophone (or a Christmas ornament😊) I’m 27 or 37 or 47… reliving a PERFECT DAY with Peter on Rue Jacob. Hearing all those wonderful antiquaries in my head- as well as Peter’s dry wit. These conjured voices keep the house in LA from being too quiet. Especially at Christmastime. These memories make our house alive❤️ like Dicken’s Ghost of Christmas Past, filling our happy hearts with visions of beloved friends across time, across the world, here at home. by @manfredflynnkuhnert

Happy Christmas Week!!! “Home for the Holidays”! Peter & I haven’t decorated since 2019, but since we had been traveling so much this year- we decided to pull out all the stops! 🤣If these boys can’t be in London for Christmas… we did our best to bring London to LaLaLand!

We began at Thanksgiving with ONE tree for the entry hall… we had so much fun that two days later it was a second tree for the living room, then since we were “on a roll” the NEXT day it was a double-tree-day for TWO more rooms! Then finally by Dec 2nd, the primary bedroom had a tree too hehehe! (Basically my Christmas Aesthetic Guru is the happy apparition of “Fortnum & Mason Present” and “Mark Birley Past”)!

Also in the spirt of Christmas - after leaving my mobile in a Parisian Taxi🤪 (so silly of me while racing into a FAB exhibition, as my glasses “drove away” too!) - Peter has been Clarence the Angel, restoring my almost-lost digital life (eventually even reclaiming ALL of my Mom’s precious voice mails that were nearly gone forever)! So I type this post with a huge sigh of relief and gratitude.

Tonight, I hope YOU ARE ALL having the MOST fulfilling, MOST loving, MOST joyous time - cherished & nurtured by beloved friends & family - as Christmas Magic catches your heart!

Love, Manfred (& Peter too)! by @manfredflynnkuhnert

...remembering KINDEST of the kind, John Julius Norwich today on what would have been his 94th Birthday. 🎂❤️🙏🏻 Never forgotten and always cherished- he was LOVED by so so many of us, because he made EVERYONE feel 10 feet tall with his generosity. He wore his great wisdom so lightly. @Artemisando @Antonywb11 @JasonCooper385 @AllegraHuston carry on this great family tradition of pairing modesty with their own generous talents... bringing us all light, love and inspiration from here to Byzantium! A TOAST THEN TO LEGACY! 💕🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 ...with this very happy "post soufflé" memory at the Ritz, celebrating an ordinary happy day with his dearest @MollieNorwich & @NinaCampbellLtd , many years ago! by @manfredflynnkuhnert

Another laughter-filled dinner at Nina’s! @NinaCampbellLtd @NinaCandlestick THANK YOU dearest friend - it’s always a jolly heartwarming night at your house, Summer, Spring, Winter & Fall!
