☸️ by @manish_realist

Devas in teachings of buddha are not creator gods, but beings who inhabit higher realms of existence. Though they may possess great beauty, power, and extraordinarily long lives, they remain subject to impermanence, suffering, and saṃsāra.

This is why the Buddha is described as “Satthā deva-manussānaṃ”, the Teacher of devas and humans. The Buddha’s role was not to be worshipped as a supreme deity, but to reveal the Dhamma and the path leading beyond suffering.

The early Buddhist texts describe devas approaching the Buddha, paying homage, asking questions, and listening to his teachings. Yet even the highest deva cannot escape saṃsāra through heavenly existence alone.

Heavenly birth is not liberation. Nibbāna is.

We often live as though this body, this life, and everything we identify with will last forever. But the Buddha reminds us that whatever arises is subject to change, decay, and ultimately separation.

Understanding the body’s impermanence is not pessimism. It is a reminder to live wisely, reduce attachment, and make meaningful use of the life we have now.

When we truly see that this body will one day become lifeless and return to the earth, an important question arises:

What am I doing with this life while it is still here?

The answer lies not in clinging to what cannot last, but in cultivating wisdom, compassion, mindfulness, and freedom from attachment. by @manish_realist
