#MarathonReleases

Today is the day!

After two singles, “Mass Relay” and “Crimson Me,” S(O)LIS (@solis.relay) have finally released their debut EP, (O), on digital streaming platforms and cassette. This also marks Marathon Recordings’ very first physical release.

A little story behind this one.

Almost two years ago, Rafi sent us a few snippets of S(O)LIS, back when the songs didn’t even have vocals. We’ve known him through Wils, so hearing our good friend making music again was already something special. As we got to know the rest of the band, we realized they were also members of bands we’ve loved for years. Everything just felt right. We couldn’t imagine a better band to kick off the label with.

Seven tracks, short enough to enjoy in one sitting, but with so much to unpack. What caught us off guard were the vocals and lyrics, especially how they frame the struggles of modern life through video game references. Seriously, how the hell do you make something so personal out of imaginary worlds and gaming lore?

We won’t spoil too much. Give the whole EP a proper listen, read the lyrics, and let the little surprises unfold from one track to the next.

And if you enjoy it, please grab a cassette. It’s one of the most direct ways to support the band and our little label, and help us keep doing this.

With love,
Marathon Recordings greetings from TXL and NYC

Please enjoy S(O)LIS — (O).

P.S. To everyone who DM’d us about reserving a cassette, we’ll get back to you soon! We’re still figuring out the best way to handle online orders.

Or better yet, come hang out with us this Saturday, October 31, for our release and listening party at our beloved @kapa.ka.pa in Bintaro. We’ve teamed up with Kapa on a special blue drink to celebrate the color of the EP. Grab a cassette, have a drink, and spend the evening with us.

P.S. part 2 :
Deftones’ Around The Fur was released 29 years ago today

See you there!

#MarathonReleases:
S(O)LIS (@solis.relay) returns with “Crimson Me,” the second single from their upcoming EP, (O).

For the band, “crimson” represents blood. The song follows someone who has lost much of themselves and seeks healing through more of that same blood. Drawing partly from Elden Ring, “Crimson Me” explores the pain, struggle, and despair running throughout the EP.

“Crimson Me” is out now on digital streaming platforms.

Music and lyrics by S(O)LIS
Produced and mixed by Alfath A. Nugraha
Recorded by Alfath A. Nugraha and Faqih
Mastered by Raoul Dikka

(O) will be available to stream on October 28, followed by an intimate listening party on October 31 at @kapa.ka.pa in Bintaro, South Tangerang.

More details are coming in the next few days.

P.S. We’re currently producing the first pressing of (O) on cassette with the help of our beloved friends at @dapur.cassette. Copies will be available at the listening party.

If you’re a wholesaler interested in carrying the cassette before its public release, send us a DM. We’d be happy to arrange an early order.

#MarathonReleases:

“Mass Relay,” the debut single from S(O)LIS ( @solis.relay ), is out now through Marathon Recordings.

Taking its name and inspiration from Mass Effect, “Mass Relay” is the band’s attempt to tell the story of an interplanetary spiritual journey through lyrical imagery. Distant planets, light-speed travel, and silence appear throughout the song, introducing the science-fiction influences behind S(O)LIS’s debut.

The band would also like to point out that their own vocalist somehow doesn’t like Mass Effect.

“Breathe out…
And the planets seem out of reach.”

Taken from their forthcoming debut EP, (O), this first release carries a simple wish from the band: to share the music, games, and fictional worlds they love, and make a few new friends along the way.

Produced and mixed by Alfath A. Nugraha
Recorded by Alfath A. Nugraha and Faqih

Hit the link in bio to listen, and pass it on to a friend.

Next up: “Crimson Me,” the second single, arrives 16 October. More soon.

P.S. For now, search for SOLIS on digital streaming platforms. We’re working on getting the (O) back where it belongs.

#MarathonUpdates:

S(O)LIS (@solis.relay), all the way from South Tangerang, grew out of a longstanding friendship, dozens of late-night Discord calls, and a heavy dose of 2000s music and video games.

The band features:

Bagas Aryandaru (@ngapackreog )
Rafi Noor (@wilsband )
Dipo Bijak (making his band debut 🤞🏼)
Alvin Kurniabana (@toast2014 )
Rizky Handiko (@easeplease.id )

Their first single lands on digital streaming platforms this Friday, October 2.

More updates soon.

Tang! Tang! Tok! Tok! (EP)

In Indonesia, street food (kaki lima, literally “five feet”) feels like the people. Cheap, accessible, honest. Made from ingredients most can afford. No manners, no status required. You just show up and eat.

It’s loved so much that intelligence officers use it as camouflage. And it sucks. If your job is surveillance or carrying weapons, stick to that. Don’t touch the hot wok and pretend you can cook. You can’t. Your food sucks and you’re ruining our culture. Though I’ve heard some of you are actually good at it, which honestly makes me confused about whether I should like you or not.

I used to think kaki lima meant two legs of the vendor plus three wheels of the cart, until I noticed some carts only have two wheels. My friend @gabgabryela told me it actually refers to a “five-foot way,” a covered pedestrian walkway in front of shop houses. So it’s not about the cart. It’s about space. Perks of having an urbanist friend.

There’s no big concept behind this EP. It’s cold in New York, I’m working on my thesis, and I miss hearing kaki lima pass by, or eating it after a long night out before going home.

This EP is stitched from modular recordings, field recordings in New York, metallic wok samples, and street noise. No strict tempo. No quantizer. Just live takes organized later.

“Tang! Tang! Tok! Tok!” is the sound of kaki lima passing by, metal hitting metal, the way Cathie Draine and Barbara Hall described it in their 80s travel guide: Culture Shock! Indonesia. by @marathonrecordings

starting 2026 by releasing the debut material from my bedroom solo project : The Residence

all songs were recorded in summer 2025, with some intentionally written to accompany me through this winter, because winter is harsh and I hate it

hopefully this is one of many releases to come (especially after I finish my thesis)

the project is called The Residence, and the EP (more like an unfinished demo) is titled Most Alive, Most Alone

Tracklist:
Fake Flavor (02:01)
All Alone (03:44)
A Smooth Sea Never Made a Good Sailor (04:33)
In This Hallway (03:23)
Riverside Hum (03:29)

Released January 2, 2026
All songs written, recorded, and produced by Fikri Izza
Recorded at De Boulogne Apartment, New York

Artwork and design by Fikri Izza

ps :
most of this was recorded in single takes with no retakes or heavy editing. It’s rough and out of tune, but done quickly to preserve my beginner’s luck and to show to my wife that buying musical instruments isn’t a waste of money, so she will buy me more.

special thanks to @alfuzz buat basic studio one tutorial for dummiesnya + rela di telfon kapan aja buat nanya cara pake studio one. by @marathonrecordings
