Hey hey! We’re Marc & Jacki 👋🏼
And we turned this van into our little home on wheels. 🚐💙

We spent about 9 months building it (a bit longer than planned 😅)… and somehow both ended up without jobs along the way — also not planned, but maybe exactly how it was meant to be.

We’ve been on the road for a while now, but our Instagram? Slightly behind 🙃
So here you’ll find a mix of van build throwbacks, travel moments, and honest glimpses of what vanlife is really like for us.

Happy you’re here ✨

We’ve wanted to film a van tour for ages, but life on the road keeps distracting us 😅🚐

Today we finally found the moment (on the parking lot of a shopping mall somewhere in Greece of all places 😂) to give you a peek inside our van!

After 2 months of living in it, we’re so happy with our layout: the big lounge bench, the fixed bed always ready for naps, all the storage, the huge amount of counter space, and how open everything feels ✨

Of course, not everything turned out perfectly. Our biggest issue so far: the spots where we sealed our wall and ceiling panels are already starting to crack… ouch 🥲 But hey, if that’s the worst of it, we’ll take it!

This little home on wheels still has many beautiful places to take us 💛

So this was JULY 🗓️

📍 Countries:
The Netherlands (well… just for Jacki 😉), Romania, North Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary

🌦️ Weather:
Mostly 30–40°C (we were melting 🥵), but then Romania surprised us with 8°C in the mountains… beanies and scarves back on! 🧣

🍴 Food:
So much Balkan food (we’re obsessed ❤️): strudel, sausages for Marc, fried donuts, chimney bread… and Dutch fries for Jacki, because wow, we really missed those. 🍟

💭 July — somehow this month flew by. Jacki spent a wholesome week back in the Netherlands for a wedding, birthday and to meet a newborn, which also made us realize how much we miss our friends and family after five months on the road. We explored Romania’s beautiful forests and mountains, spotted bears just 10 meters from our van (while Marc was on the toilet and completely missed it 😂🐻), melted in beautiful Budapest, and ate our way through the Balkans. Maybe it’s time for a little summer visit to Germany and the Netherlands after all. 💙

On to the next… 🚐✨

We first reached the Bosnian border, but because of the bad weather forecast we decided to turn back to the Croatian coast. The next day we suddenly thought: why not just go for it? And before we knew it, we were driving into Bosnia.

And wow… what a country. Not only because of the beautiful landscapes, but also because of the history you can feel everywhere.

We learned more about Yugoslavia and the war that happened here not that long ago. It honestly made us quite quiet. The beautiful drives through mountains and along rivers gave us the time to let everything we learned sink in.

Wow, what an entrance to Montenegro! 🇲🇪🚐

After crossing the border over an old wooden bridge, we were immediately greeted by one of the most beautiful roads we’ve driven so far.

Winding through giant rocks, driving next to deep canyons, and constantly stopping because the views were just too good. 🤯

We also made our first street dog friend… who I secretly tried to convince to become vegetarian. 😂🐶 (not sure if I succeeded)

Montenegro, you had our attention from the very first kilometre.

Croatia just kept getting better. 🥹🇭🇷

We wandered around Zadar, completely fell in love with the Sea Organ (seriously, who came up with that?!), and somehow ended up in a German supermarket… selling German Christmas cookies. In spring. Dangerous. 😂🎄

That night we had dolphins swimming past our “backyard” again 🐬, and we also found the best shower of the trip so far: free, clean, warm… honestly, what more do you need? 🚿✨

Sometimes it’s the little things that make vanlife feel pretty amazing.

So this was JUNE 🗓️

📍 Countries:
Türkiye, Bulgaria, North Macedonia

🌦️ Weather:
Some days were way too hot (hello 40°C 🥵), but most of the time we enjoyed perfect 25°C+ sunshine ☀️

🍴 Food:
Our last simits, fresh Bulgarian salads… and finally wholegrain bread from Lidl again 😂🥖

💭 June — after 1.5 months in Türkiye, the green forests and endless mountains of Bulgaria were exactly what we needed. Slower days, hammocks between the trees, and simply enjoying where we were. 💚🌲

So this was MAY 🗓️

📍 Countries:
Türkiye

🌦️ Weather:
Sun, sun, and even more sun ☀️ — from 20°C all the way up to 30°C

🍴 Food:
Simit, simit, simit… and yes, even more simit 😅🥯 Plus plenty of döner kebab for Marc.

💭 May — we originally planned to spend just a few days in Turkey… but ended up staying for over a month. The incredible landscapes, warm hospitality, and kindness of the people completely exceeded our expectations. What a country. 🇹🇷💙

So this was APRIL 🗓️

📍 Countries:
Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey

🌦️ Weather:
A little snow at first… but mostly sunshine and finally 20°C+ ☀️😎

🍴 Food:
Way too much tzatziki, halloumi, our first simits… and absolutely no regrets 🤤

💭 April — the month vanlife finally started to look the way we had imagined it. Longer sunny days, slower travel, and taking more time to simply enjoy the journey instead of rushing to the next destination. 💙🚐

Croatia was the first stop that truly felt like the vanlife dream we had pictured in our heads 🚐🌊

Driving our self-built van along the coast, views over the sea, and even spotting dolphins for a moment 🐬✨

But Croatia also surprised us in ways we didn’t expect: mountains, snow… and actual bear footprints 😅🐻

Slovenia — the first country on our trip that we didn’t really know what to expect from… but wow, what a beautiful surprise 🇸🇮✨

Forests everywhere, rolling hills, and it felt like there was a castle around every corner 🏰
And Ljubljana? We absolutely loved it. Young and vibrant, amazing food, and canals that honestly reminded us a little of Utrecht.

Safe to say: we’ll definitely be back 💛

I knew I loved Italy… I just didn’t expect leaving it would make me emotional 🥲🇮🇹

The further east we drove, the more the snow disappeared and the sun started showing up ☀️🚐

We stopped at a beautiful villa to wander around for a bit, and even asked a neighbor if we could borrow his ladder because we thought we had a leak in the roof 😅 Luckily… false alarm.

Of course, we also treated ourselves to more pizza, pasta, Italian espresso, and pastries in another little town 🍕☕️
Honestly, life in Italy just hits differently.

Not gonna lie — while eating my final cannoli on our last evening, I may have gotten a little emotional knowing we were leaving Italy behind for a while 🥲🇮🇹
