POSTS STORIES REELS

Shoutout to our special performers — and we don't use the word *special* loosely ✨

Freely Fest wouldn't have been what it was without @arianadebose, @morgxnofficial, @marcellasimienmusic and @kyshonamusic, who captivated the crowd between sets with performances of Strange Fruit, This Land Is Your Land, Rock Around the Clock and Travelin' Soldier.

On this day last month, @worldcafe featured a live performance that Dustin and I did at @krvsmedia this year. We performed “Bloodline” “Time is Wild” & “Lelia.”

After submitting my music to Tiny Desk many times and hearing crickets in return, I didn’t know if I’d ever have the chance to be featured on NPR. Then lo and behold…here we are. And I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m glad the music that sent me to NPR has a centering message of honoring the ancestors. Everything happens the way it’s meant to.

Thank you @npr @nprmusic for shining a light on my work. It’s one of the highest honors to be featured on this prestigious radio station.

Massive thank you to @maigre_leg for leading the charge on this Acadiana Music Showcase series in partnership with @worldcafe , which is an incredible vehicle for artists from the community to be heard internationally.

that had nothin to do with me.”

This song and narration was written and performed by yours truly and I co-produced it w/ @dustincrops75 I intentionally only played instruments that Lelia would have heard when she was alive from 1900-1965. The accordion I’m playing is a @hohner_accordions built in the 1930’s.

MEMPHIS DRONE - ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

@marcellasimienmusic is an interdisciplinary artist whose work moves across music, visual art, wellness, and education, rooted in her identity as a ninth-generation Louisiana Creole and shaped by 20 years of music-making as the daughter of two-time GRAMMY-winning Zydeco legend Terrance Simien. Her genre-defying sound draws from Soul, American Roots, Blues, Jazz, and beyond, while her practice extends into yoga, meditation, teaching, and community work in Memphis, where she serves as an Orpheum Theatre Group Teaching Artist.

Memphis Drone is Monday, October 19 at @memphis_printshop from 6pm until midnight. Buy your tickets via the link in our bio today 🔗
