October Update: Cloud

Found some rare breathing room this past month to do a few fun things, which included visiting the cloud gate (also known as the bean).

Touching and feeling the clouds felt so calming, even if it was on a delayed flight, or into their reflections (read: I fell into a lake, proudly, with my phone on and streaming Speak Now).

I’m so glad to feel myself coming back to me, so that even on cloudy days and strenuous runs, I could hear my inner songs loud and clear. Here is to more glimpses into the future and more opportunities to Defy Gravity… by @marge_z_art

September update: freedom
Once upon a time I knew the Statue of Liberty as “the goddess of freedom”, which is what you’d get if you translated it into Chinese and back into English.
And this month, it was gracious enough to shed me some more freedom and carry me towards a bit more happiness and the youthful spirit that I thought was long lost.
Summer went away, still the yearning stays. by @marge_z_art

May update: deadlines

There were lots of them this month. rrrrrrrrrr

At times it feels like I’m stretching 12 hours to be 24, and no matter what I do, I’d be hitting the delete button, and the worst thing was, I knew this would happen from the beginning and there were few things I could do.

But hopefully, the worst is behind us, and in between now and then there are some fresh flowers to smell, some grass to touch, some friends to see, and some songs to sing. Once again, the sky clears up after it falls, and I’m hoping for a better time ahead… by @marge_z_art

April update: rollercoaster

I went on a real rollercoaster last month, saw some flowers, touched some grass, and got reminded that life can still be beautiful despite of the rollercoaster it has been ❤️ by @marge_z_art

December update: 🙏

The human life is so, so fragile. In light of lots of sadness recently and in the past month, all the struggles I’ve gone through this month feels small. All I could do is to pray. by @marge_z_art

November update: pace

Not drawing on my iPad this month for a change in pace.

So many of my friends participated in the Cambridge (MA) Half Marathon this month - I felt extremely empowered just to watch them set their PRs, or just to get out there and participate, which was an incredible feat on its own. Though I still had to tend to work even in the cheering crowd (I guess TIL you can edit an excel sheet on your phone?), what I will remember from this day were the smiling faces and the golden leaves dancing between the Charles river and the finish line

The past month at work had been a marathon where it felt like everyone was sprinting all the time. From time to time, it felt like pieces of my soul were flying away from my body like leaves falling from their branches, and I’m only now starting to run back to the forest to pick them up again, along with remaining memories of the good things that happened this month:

I still got to celebrate a birthday. I still got to hang out with several groups of friends. I still got to think about pi sometimes. I still got to pace around Cornell this past weekend to catch the last few of the falling leaves. (Though I wish I had a red car.) I still got to learn to cook a few new things, including one of my favorite dishes. I still got to spend a few nights drifting into sweet dreams…

Here is to hope that there is a more consistent pace in work and in life, and remembering that life is not a sprint, but rather a marathon - by @marge_z_art
