I've got limestone and dry clay tucked into the fabric of my bones and this part of me melts into a knowingness when I'm home. Its sublime. by @mariahardy.1

A beautiful morning in service and ceremony at @the.wanti absolutely the perfect weekend stay for an artist retreat. by @mariahardy.1

🐚 I built you a celestial spaceship, made of sandalwood, myrrh and flowers.

We ignited it with a 4 day fire. So that you could ride it into the afterlife.

Did you feel our ushering?

I close my eyes and I can see you landing exquisitely into the mystery. There you are, you have found a new home in our hearts forevermore.

It is time to close this portal now. I'll compost the flowers and sprinkle the ash into the garden. You would have liked that.

We love you James, thank you for dancing in this life with us.

In love and in mystery x

James Stark was a dear friend, mentor and guide. He was a fierce and loyal guardian of our family, Orin especially.

He showed up through Orin’s mum’s passing to buy bread and run errands and in true James fashion made himself available wherever needed. He held Orin and I as we made our forever promise to each other. He saw us and loved us individually and together.

The work we’ve done over the past ten years on the kul kul farm is deeply rooted in the seeds he and Penny Livingston planted in Orin’s heart. His influence is everywhere.

He always showed up with arms wide open and with some serious swag! He was 80, but he wasn't. Spirit (his especially!) is ageless and his body was remarkably strong.

James was working on his memoir the last time we spoke, but his legacy is already alive in all of us, in the hearts he’s touched, and the communities he’s shaped.

Thank you John for befriending this (as someone recently called him) luminous rascal and for having the foresight to send a teenage Orin into his garden.

I anticipate the algorithm will punish me for my absence.. regardless...

It's been a month and a sense of reverence has come to greet me. In a world obsessed with immediacy, we have lost the magic of distance and reflection.
.
So jumping on here one more time to make it official. I'm checking out of socials for now or forever (or until necessity compels my participation once more).

If you have my whats app reach me there, or you can also email me on mariafarr.1@gmail.com.

A taste and a window back in time to old Bali. A feast by @dapurbalimula Chef Jero Mangku, Ibu Jero and their incredibly talented crew of distillers, fishermen, salt makers, harvesters, tree tappers, alchemists, chefs, fire keepers and guardians of flavor and soul in food.
