2026 FLYRA Elementary States 🤩🥇🥈

800m: Started the meet with my third 800m of the season, just in time to run 7 seconds faster from my PR. New PR 2:25.33s and great competition with @lojo_fast the entire way! Finished 2nd place runner up by 0.07s.

400m: Legs are heavy, windy day. Short of PR by 0.69s. Finished as the 400m champion running 61.93s. Great competition as well with @sanaii_da_track_star !

200m: Finish strong. New 200m PR 27.57 , 0.39s faster! Came up short in 9th from podium top 8, but great competition overall.

And all my @miamielite teammates PR in their events :)

Big performance from Mariam Ruiz (4th Grade Age 10), who ran 2:32.94 in the 800m at the FLYRA Elementary/Middle School State Championship last weekend at IMG Academy in Bradenton. That time ranks #1 in Florida for the 10 year old division and was fast enough for a 3rd place finish and the top 4th grader. In Bradenton 1st place (5th grade Age 11) finished 2:32.17 and 2nd place (5th grade Age 11) finished 2:32.80.

As of the state Championships last weekend, Mariam’s time ranks her #2 in the USA for Age 10 division, just 0.80 seconds shy of #1.

Mariam's previous PR in the 800m was 2:44.86 at the 2024 AAU Junior Olympic Games and had a season best of 2:46 from earlier this year.

Next up for Mariam is the Superfly Athletics Meet of Champions at Tropical Park next Saturday May 31st 🏃‍♀️
