POSTS STORIES REELS

My beautiful Mother Cow scene has sold this week. Mother Cow and her companions Frog and Fish are off to pastures new. Thankyou to the wonderful team @byard_art for sharing my work in their gorgeous gallery and for the time it must have taken them to wrap up all the little pieces! I love this piece with all my heart and I’m part delighted that someone else does too and part sad that I won’t see it again. I’ve wrote a new blog post about it and about the power of art as a carrier of hope. How thoughtful art and craft seems to hold an energy of its own and shares it with its owner. Link is in my bio should you also be feeling a little mystical and fancy a read.. 🐮💖🐸💛🐟

As a preschooler I heard stories of farmed animals, in picture books and on the TV. But then that all stopped and as I grew up they were just part of my meals for the majority of my life. Now I want to listen to their stories again, and to share them too. Stories of treading the fields, shading under the trees, drinking from clean rivers, caring for their babies, visits from hares, deer and so many different birds. I’ve been taught all my life to see the world through my very human lens, but I like thinking about how others, especially animals view the world too and I want to share more of their stories. Playing with clay is a fun way to do that. Hope you like them x 🐮 🐮💕🌻

My new animal scene featuring Calf and Piglet (and a couple of new friends) - all finished - it’s Autumn themed so of course I didn’t get it finished until Winter.. classic 👍🏻 But I hope you like it.. there’s lots to look at and I love how brave I’ve been with colour - that cobalt blue!! I’ll share more soon. Have a magical weekend all.. mine is filled with work - but I’ll treat my walks to and from as if I’m walking through an enchanted wonderland of course 💫 💙 xx

September + October, watching the green turn to gold. November now, and it’s time to let all the leaves fall, release the trees from their burden of so diligently decorating our summer. Fires, books, reflection, and tending to my own inner fire and asking it what it wants for when spring eventually returns. Happy November all 🧡 by @marie_canning

A stormy weekend in a cabin with no electricity but a very warm fire, books, games and hot tea. Not much walking or swimming done but plenty of stillness and time together 🧡🌼 by @marie_canning

A big thanks to @ceramicreview for a recent piece of my writing for ‘Potter’s on Pots’, where I spoke about my own work alongside @clairecurneen exquisite sculptures.

It’s been a long time since I’ve written anything longer than an instagram caption and I really enjoyed the process so I hope if you read it you got a little something from it too 🦋

A weekend spent in the beautiful Victoria Baths for GNCCF 2026! Thanks to everyone who visited my stand and to those who took something home with them too. I loved being in the same pool as my Hebden pals @sewsaima & @tobyjewellery and being reunited for a short time with my dear @deebarnesdesigns . So glad too to make new wonderful friends - my neighbours @paperbydragonfly @thecloudpottery @dotandhana . It’s the community that makes these events so special.

I was also very fortunate to meet Patricia @thedesigntrust and to receive an award which means I get £300 of business support - so thrilled with that! After my first conversation with Patricia I said to friends - oh my word I have just learnt and thought about things I didn’t even know were there. She is one of those people who can just get to the centre of the matter immediately! So thank-you Patricia. 🙏🏻🦋

As always it was a beautiful event packed with extraordinary artists and makers thanks to Ann Marie, Victoria and Leanne @great_northern_events . 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Having a rest now and looking forward to being back to making asap 🩷🌼 by @marie_canning

Hello.. it’s been a little while.. so many brilliant fairs and wonderful experiences this year but even the good can wear out a sensitive soul like me 🫣 so I’ve been spending a lot of time with close friends, my family and walking in the woods watching the leaves fall. Isn’t Autumn special. My energy is slowly returning and I’ve just about made it to the very special @great_northern_events in beautiful Victoria Baths. GNCCF was the first fair I did fresh out of my second attempt at Uni in 2012, and after a long baby break I returned last year and I’m very grateful to be back. Manchester is also my home town and I’ve enjoyed/been mesmerised at how much it’s changed these past years. I love the modern architecture and how it’s blended with the historical buildings, there’s so much life here, a city that’s buzzing with excitement and possibility. Do come say hi if you’re visiting, you’ll find me in pool C. by @marie_canning

I’ve been in need of a break after a year full of fairs. Yesterday we drove out to Flamborough head and explored some of the beautiful coves amidst the chalk cliffs, saw seals bobbing in the waves and swam in the very fresh North Sea. Finished with chips soaked in vinegar for the drive home. A mind boggling difference of scenery within Yorkshire. Back last night to the deep wooded valley of Hebden Bridge. A little more rest, then back to making for my next event soon 💙 by @marie_canning

Moving through the seasons @craftfestival Wales!
🌱 🌼 🍁 ❄️ by @marie_canning

The kiln is on for its final firing this evening and it’ll soon be time to pack up and head down to Cardigan bay for my first time at @craftfestival Wales held at Cardigan Castle.

I’ll be bringing some familiar pieces with me, alongside some new ones too and I know it’s going to be a fantastic weekend.

Also if anyone has any beach swimming spots to recommend in the area you know I need to know them!?! 🌊
