Sometimes the best drive isn’t about horsepower, screens or how much stuff you can carry.

Sometimes it’s just about you, the road and a car that makes you want to keep driving. 🏁

The Mazda MX-5 RF is one of those cars.

I spent some time with this little rear-wheel-drive roadster on the roads in the Okanagan — and put it through my own real-world test, camera gear and all. 📸

My full Mazda MX-5 RF review is now on YouTube - Marissa_Baecker.

Head to my channel on YouTube to watch the full video — and while you’re there, subscribe to my YouTube channel. I’m rebuilding after losing my original MotoBaecker social accounts, and YouTube is where you’ll find all of my automotive and motorcycle reviews, road trips and driving experiences.

And I have to know…

MX-5 RF in the garage — yes or no?

New helmet day. 🏁🔥

Unboxing the 2026 Arai Corsair-X Isle of Man TT and getting it set up with a shield swap.

There are helmets… and then there are helmets that are basically wearable art. The Isle of Man TT graphics on this one are absolutely stunning — almost a shame I fully intend to ride in it. 😉

What do you think — clear shield or dark?

Ten years.

It’s hard to believe it has been a decade since The Tragically Hip took the stage in Kingston for the final time.

I watched that concert again this week, and somewhere between the songs, the crowd and Gord standing on that stage, a flood of memories came back.

The first time I heard Fully Completely sitting around a fire after a day skiing in Whistler - I was a HIP fan.

The Hip were part of the soundtrack of Canada, but for me, their music is also tied to a very particular chapter of my life behind a camera.

Over the years, I had the privilege of photographing the band many times. I stood at their feet with my cameras, watched those shows unfold through a viewfinder, and had opportunities to spend time with the band away from the stage.

Looking back through my archives now, I remember far more than shutter speeds and camera settings. I remember the attempt at a selfie after sound check. I remember the conversations in the airport waiting to board. I remember that one fan yelling "Tell me a story Gordy!" after that first song. The anticipation before the lights went down. The energy when the first notes hit. And Gord — one of those performers you simply couldn't take your lens off.

There is something strange about photographs as they age. When you take them, you're documenting a moment.

Years later, you realize you were documenting history.

These are a few of my photographs of The Tragically Hip from over the years.

Ten years after that final concert, the music still hits differently.

And I'm incredibly grateful that, for a little while, I got to see part of their story from the other side of my lens.

Would you take a $200K Porsche OFF-ROAD? 😳

At the Porsche Roadshow Dynamic Driving Experience at Area 27, I went from driving the all-electric Taycan GTS through the vineyards of the South Okanagan…

➡️ to a hybrid 911 slalom
➡️ to Launch Control in a 1,139-hp Cayenne Turbo Electric
➡️ to taking Cayennes through soft sand, steep climbs, side slopes, rocks and a three-wheel descent.

0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds one minute.

Crawling through a rock garden the next.

Of everything I drove, the Cayenne was the biggest surprise.

And yes — we put more than $1 MILLION worth of them in the dirt. 😂

🎥 I put the entire Porsche experience together in a new video.

We were just getting through the smoke of previous fires when Bald Range started. Helicopters by night, bombers by day. In a small town in the Kootenays of British Columbia, riders from around the world gather each year for the Western Canadian Indian Motorcycle Riders Celebration.

Capturing a group photo has its challenges but nothing like a flock of pigeons that take issue with your drone and begin to swarm as you gather participants. However, it does provide great entertainment for those in the photo while you get into position.

Some roads are simply unforgettable.

The Kootenays are one of those places where every corner leads to another incredible view, and the 2026 Indian Motorcycle Challenger PowerPlus 112 felt right at home. Powerful, comfortable, and built to devour mountain highways, it’s the kind of motorcycle that reminds you why we ride.

If the open road is calling, this is one ride worth adding to your bucket list.

🏍️ Have you ridden through the Kootenays? Which route should I explore next?

3,000 photos. Two days. Soaring temperatures. Relentless wind. Worth every second.

I love photographing motorcycle track days.

Every lap tells a story of learning, confidence and precision. Riders arrive looking to improve—better vision, better braking, better cornering = safer over all riding. The speed comes easy as the skill develops.

Brad Harder is the control rider of the image sequence through one corner and he perfectly illustrates that skill.

Now the real work begins... editing 3,000+ images. 📷🏍️
