Yoga is not fragile; neither are you.

We all come to yoga for different reasons. We know that yoga is not just a physical practice. Although there are some that may attend classes specifically and only for the physical part and benefits of it. Even though we may differ in our intentions or desires of the practice, the practice remains the same, always. Even though our intentions and desires of the practice may differ, vary, and fluctuate as we travel through as a student, the practice still remains the same and consistent. Yoga will always be the same. Yoga will never change, and it is meant to be challenging, and it is meant to be hard. As teachers, we are not here to downplay the practice or to make it less than what it is, and its intention of what it is meant to be. We are not here to coddle you. We are here to guide you and lead you. To be raw, honest, and sincere, honoring yoga. Yoga allows you to practice over and over again, likely doing the same postures over and over again, to discover. You may be a student of yoga for 20 years and still have questions about the practice and about yourself. We are all students for life, and hopefully we are all yoga practitioners for life.

Let yoga be hard. Let it break you down and open you up. Let it break your heart and then save it. Use this amazing practice and exploration through the movement to get to know yourself. Invite yourself to accept that nothing is static, except for asana, and welcome your internal drive to evolve through feeling.

Give yourself grace, give yourself time to ease into the practice and accept the practice for what it is. And give yourself grace to ease into yourself and accept you for who you are. You are not fragile; you are a force.

I’ve included an art gallery of feeling to go along with my sentiment. May you find meaning through my words, my images, my art. It all comes from my heart. by @marissa_flow

Some are affected and bothered by the summer coming to an end. Some are excited about fall. Both are very normal, human feelings and emotions. However, perhaps turn to gratitude. Perhaps find mindfulness for the present moment, and appreciation for what life is presenting you with, while practicing non-attachment to what you deem good or bad.

May you find gratitude that you are able to live through a summer, likely having done summer activities, while being gifted the enjoyment of those beautiful months. Find gratitude that you are able to celebrate fall and indulge in all the wondrous things that come along with this most lovely season. Allow yourself to flow, meeting life where it is. Keep in mind that the luxuries of the seasons and the things that come along with them are exactly that, a luxury, a privilege, and a blessing.

September is blood cancer awareness month. It may be a nice time to turn your thoughts to gratitude and embrace a full appreciation for all of the blessings in your life.

I wish you health and love always.❣️ by @marissa_flow

POV: you thought yoga was just breathing and stretching

Meanwhile I’m fighting for my life, controlling my thoughts, regulating my breath, building strength, balance, discipline, and seeing how far my body can really go.

Yoga isn’t “easy.”
It teaches you how powerful your mind truly is. Having the right teacher can guide you and I’m grateful for all my teachers. Especially you @marissa_flow! There are so many amazing teachers at @graceyogaspace 🧘‍♀️🫶

Breaking my heart and saving it, all at the same time.

Are you vulnerable with yourself? Do you allow your heart to be soft and open, available to receive and absorb and experience? Inviting and welcoming emotions and experiences brings a power and higher understanding of one’s self and life in general. Exploring the mind and the heart, coming to stillness in both. Allowing the brain and the heart to settle, and ultimately return to gratitude. Bringing it to the forefront of the mind and the heart, knowing that gratitude is truly what life and living stems from. Expressing devotion in all forms.

My sentiment is purely based on a relationship with yourself and God. To name a few, I find yoga, prayer, dance, reading, writing, and music, specifically classical or that of a piano, violin or orchestra, brings me to a place of heartbreak and saving simultaneously.

Can you break your own heart and save it at the same time? What does this mean to you? by @marissa_flow

Your yoga teacher by @marissa_flow

I feel like I have waited over 10 years, my entire yoga teaching career for this. I am now offering a Fundamentals of Yoga class. I am honored to be entrusted to lead and teach students in this extremely important and potent class. This is the true core of yoga; what it was meant to be, how it was meant to be practiced, and how we as students and practitioners are meant to embody the practice fully, spiritually and physically, to grow and live with abundance, peace, and contentment through intention, discernment and discipline.

Throughout my time as a teacher, I am so very grateful to have been told from my students that my teachings, guidance, and instruction has brought them to new levels in their yoga practice. They have discovered things about postures, their mindset, and their body that they didn’t know was in them or was even possible. In this class, we will explore asanas, or poses, and get to know the actual foundation of them. Students will discover where their body should be in space and what is optimal for their anatomy. The focus is to gain full body and mind awareness and engagement, to ensure what is to be engaged in order to execute a pose properly and get the full benefit of a posture. And of course, never neglecting the transitions; the oh so beautiful in betweens, and the pauses. Unlike what private clients receive in sessions, when teaching a vinyasa, power, or faster paced public class, you can’t spend as much time as may be desired to really delve in on the foundations of a pose or the foundations of yoga itself. We can now go deeper.

Fundamentals of Yoga is formulated for and catered to the first time or new student, all the way through the realm of the lifelong practitioner. We are going to grow together, stronger and wiser, as we fully embody the sacred practice of yoga.

I am honored to be of service to you with this new offering @stillhousewellnessstudio Saturdays 11am.
