Preparing for a night of galchi fishing🎣

Large two-wheeled carts are filled with ice, then the ice is shovelled aboard to keep the catch fresh until morning. In no time, everything is ready and the boat heads out to sea. They won’t return until the next morning. It’s incredibly hard work, but what struck me most was the efficiency, the rhythm, and the teamwork. Everyone knows exactly what to do, and everything comes together so seamlessly.

I could watch this for hours. ⚓🐟 by @marleenfouchier

This week, the 107th National Sports Festival is taking place in Jeju, South Korea🇰🇷 Bringing together about 30.000 participants across 50 sports disciplines. Today, we had the opportunity to witness the cycling competition, ahead of the opening ceremony tomorrow🚴 The island is truly breathing sports this week💪🏅

Meet the Haenyeo just after their dive🌊🤿

During a long walk along the coast I came across these incredible Korean Haenyeo women. They dive into the sea without oxygen tanks to collect seafood, relying only on their breath-holding skills and years of experience. A centuries-old tradition passed down through generations.
