The moment I saw her, Clementine stole my heart.

I knew that more than anything, I wanted to help her heal from whatever trauma she’d experienced before we found each other. I wanted to give her everything, love her unconditionally, and show her that the world could be a safe and beautiful place.

Of course, she brought so much joy into my life. But Clementine was different. For the first time, I felt that my greatest purpose wasn’t what a dog could give me, but what I could give her.

I wanted healing for HER, not just comfort for me.

I wanted her to feel safe enough to be curious, to trust, to play, to love, and most importantly, to simply be a dog.

And little by little, I watched that happen. The timid little girl who was afraid of so much began to find her confidence. She discovered her favorite places, learned to ask for affection, followed me everywhere, and even decided that Grandpa’s lap was a pretty wonderful place to take a nap. ❤️

She became my little shadow. Always underfoot, always looking for me. I knew every tiny sound she made, especially those soft little whines when she stood beside my bed, waiting for me to pick her up.

And in her final days, she wanted nothing more than to be close. To snuggle, to nuzzle, to feel me beside her.

I wish we’d had more time. So much more time. There were still so many things I wanted to show her, so many experiences I wanted her to have.

I truly hope she felt every bit of my love as I held her in my arms. I hope she knew she was safe, that she belonged, and that she would never have to be afraid or alone again.

I wanted to give Clementine the world. Instead, in the short time we had together, she became mine.

My sweet little Esme Clementine. I’ll miss you more than words can say. 🍊❤️ by @marvelous.moi

Welp. It’s been a minute … but mirror selfies are back!! Been focused on getting my life and my HEALTH back on track.

I haven’t been on an exercise routine for over a year, I don’t particularly love what I see in photos, and my body has been making executive decisions without consulting me. Rude.

There’s context, of course. Health issues. Exhaustion from the health issues. Life doing what life does. But it’s still a bummer to look in the mirror and feel a little disconnected from the woman looking back.

I’m #midlife and I’m still figuring this chapter out.

I haven’t been reading NEARLY as much as I would like to. Today I ventured out to @luluslittlekitchen for a delicious lamb bowl 🥣 and stared at my book instead of my phone. Except it had been so long since I cracked my book open, I had to go back 10 pages as a refresher! Good grief I’ll never finish this book! …

You’ve got 2 hours to yourself. What are you gonna do?

I’ve been back in the Bay Area for about 3 months now! As much as I still get FOMO(congrats @nyknicks!) it’s days like this that make me love my home.

I won’t sugarcoat things, I’ve moved to Asia and back… this last move from NJ was so insane it took years off my life. I like it here. I think I’m gonna stay.

The end of my #eastcoastera is bittersweet. I wished I had more time to realize my potential, but not gonna lie…. I am delighted to be back home. What should this chapter be called? by @marvelous.moi

It gets harder to make new friends in #midlife, I am so thankful for the people that Ive met during my #eastcoastera. It’s never too late!!

This isn’t a food influencer account …. But if you know me, you won’t be surprised that my bucket list for my last few weeks in NY/NJ consists mainly of things I wanna eat.

@stretchpizzanyc lived up to the hype. We loved the meatballs, the pizza, and even got dessert! 🍨 Ordering dessert 🟰everything before it was delish. I am willing to go all the way.

I came out to New Jersey to start a new adventure. Not easy in midlife, but I try my best to say YES when the universe shows me a door.

Welp, California is calling me back and these few weeks have been squeezing in all I can while still dealing with logistics and an auto-immune disease. We got this!! 💪🏼
