American Twilight 🦅 10/22

This is a really special song to me.
I wrote the lyrics two years ago, as I was watching the sunset in my backyard.
I didn’t realize it at the time, but it was really an elegy for my Father, who was a Green Beret in the Special Forces, in the twilight of his life. by @marymcguinnessofficial

“Finally let yourself just feel🤍
It’s so beautiful when you find
something real.”
I wrote these words to give comfort
and company to anyone who might need to hear it.

“CASCADITA” is out in the world today🤍
i think the words to this song came as words i wished had been said to me when I needed to hear them, that it’s okay to give yourself permission to not have to hold everything together, to rest, to feel, and to be soft in a world that often tells us otherwise.

thank you @danharrisonmusic
i really enjoyed ✍️ this with you

and thank you @dylanleblanc_official for producing, playing, and singin’

I come from a rough place-a lot of us have. The world can grind you down and it can make you hard. But that’s not who we are. Love Child is a song for everyone.🌹
You matter by @marymcguinnessofficial

Hi, my name is Mary McGuinness and I was born in Killeen, TX ( Ft. Hood ) the daughter
of a Special Forces Green Beret.
I wrote “American Twilight” as a 💌 to this land,
and to everyone who still believes it is worth
protecting, no matter where they stand.

You can listen now wherever you like to listen to music 🌅 by @marymcguinnessofficial

A year ago today: first day recording @fame_recording_studios in Muscle Shoals, AL. Recording in a place that shaped the music I love is just about as good as it gets for me, a real dream come true. So grateful.
Thank you for all these great 📸
@abrahamrowephotography

-little side note, Duane Allman (we happen to share the same🎂💙)
was a session player @fame_recording_studios and persuaded Wilson Pickett to record a cover of the Beatles “Hey Jude” here. After Eric Clapton heard his guitar on this he asked him to play on “Layla” by @marymcguinnessofficial

coming out of the shell I like to hide under
sometimes and showing behind the scenes can be painful and messy but it means something, and that’s what matters at the end of the day. i love my work. music bonds us all together.🖤 by @marymcguinnessofficial

KNOXVILLE memories! Appreciate the love from WDVX & their Blue Plate Special.

Give Mary a follow. It definitely helps!

You belong among the Wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
Sail away kill off the hours
You belong somewhere you feel free

Happy weekend everyone❤️
