. Wild Matters is an ongoing body of work initiated in 2023 that has taken shape through repeated travels to remote regions of Brazil.

Formerly bringing back photographs as material for inspiration and recollection of the landscapes; capturing in-situ sounds, collecting soil and the wish to incorporate the latter into the clay body, came more recently.

Sounds hold part of the memory, revealing aspects of the land sometimes overlooked by the eye, while the earthen materials retain some of its physical properties .

I have been struggling a lot with the basics of wheel throwing over this winter, often being unable to center my lump of clay and instead worked with slabs in a sort of expressive way.

It was if the clay was telling me that I have to recenter myself first before trying to control it. Work is still in progress but I am glad with the outcome of those expressive pieces . 🖤 .

Thanks @cernamic for being a supportive family.
