MATTEO IACHINO - WORLD CHAMPION - MENS FOIL SLALOM 2026 πŸŒŽπŸ† Winner in Sylt πŸ₯‡ 3rd in Japan πŸ₯‰ Equal points for the season with Amado Vrieswijk so it came down to a tiebreak which goes as follows: 1. Who beat who the most times in events in the season: Equal (each beat each other once) 2. Who has the most 1sts, 2nds, etc. in event results: Equal (both 1 x 1st & 3rd) 3. Who has the most 1sts, 2nds, etc. in elimination results: 1sts = equal (3-3), 2nds = Matteo wins (4-3) It was the tightest of margins when it came down to it, but this year Matteo Iachino is the King of Slalom - winning both the Slalom-X and Foil Slalom World Title and proving he is the man to beat when it comes to racing! Congratulations Matteo! #pwaworldtour by @matteo_iachino
MATTEO IACHINO - WORLD CHAMPION - MENS SLALOM-X 2026 πŸŒπŸ† Matteo Iachino put in a dominant performance all week, winning 5 of the 11 eliminations sailed and only counting 1st and 2nd place results in his overall score, but his perhaps that doesn’t completely tell the story as a last day disaster - going out in the semi-final this morning opened the door for Pierre Mortefon to come back in to contention. But the Italian shone when it mattered most and took a second place in the final elimination to secure his 4th PWA World Title and his maiden victory in Slalom-X πŸŒπŸ† Grande Matteo! #pwaworldtour by @matteo_iachino
Matteo Iachino is the 2026 Men’s Foil Slalom World Champion πŸŒπŸ† After winning in Sylt, he led the tour into Japan but was behind heading into the final day. Then drama struck, a huge catapult in Elimination 2 left him in the losers final and in need of a miracle to retain the title… and somehow it happened! Pierre Mortefon and Amado Vrieswijk crashed out in the winners final of elimination 3, whilst Matteo won the elimination and climbed back onto the event podium in 3rd. Now on equal points for the season with Amado, it went to a tiebreak and Matteo won the tiebreaker and took the title! After so many years on the receiving end of a tiebreak loss, finally it went in his favour. The Foil Slalom World Title is his second of the season, after also winning the Slalom X World Title earlier in the year πŸ†πŸ† #pwaworldtour by @matteo_iachino

MATTEO IACHINO IS THE 2026 FOIL SLALOM WORLD CHAMPION! It went to down to a tiebreak with Amado, a position Matteo is no stranger to, and on this occasion it went in his favour! With equal tour points, equal event results, equal number of first places in eliminations, it went down to who had the most 2nds, which Matteo won 4-3. Congratulations Matteo! πŸ† Fly! HUGE CRASH FROM MATTEO IACHINO IN THE SEMI FINAL OF ELIMINATION 2! Despite what Ben says, he’s not out of the title battle yet but the ball is now in Amado’s court to not make a mistake in the final elimination, whilst Matteo needs to climb back into the top 3 in the event rankings. With no discards, its going to be very close and anything can happen! Tune in to the livestream on pwaworldtour.com to watch it unfold! πŸ† Fly! MENS ELIMINATION 1 FINAL 🀺 The Men’s Elimination 1 final saw two distinct battles between two sets of team mates - out in front you had the North boys of Pierre Mortefon and Amado Vrieswijk. Pierre led for the first two reaches but Amado got ahead on the second jibe and Pierre couldn’t recover to take back the place. The latter of the two battles was between the two Pryde boys of Nico Prien and Matteo Iachino fighting for 3rd place. Nico took the early lead and held it up until the penultimate jibe mark where Matteo took the inside line and pumped over the top of Nico to take the spot on the provisional podium. πŸ† Fly! Really difficult day at the office. Shifting wind gusting from many different directions. Solid third place πŸ₯‰ in the first elimination after I got squeezed in between the white boys on the first reach. Tomorrow is the last day and everything can happen . Forecast looks windy 😎πŸ’ͺ⚑️ πŸ“Έ @jcwindsurf X @pwaworldtour #riding4alby #ita140 #windsurf #windsurfjapan by @matteo_iachino
The forecast showed proper wind but we only had rain today… unluckily the typhoon didn’t push enough to bring us some nice conditions. Highlight of the day was for sure meeting many local kids hoping to see them soon windsurfing. Tomorrow we should finally get the more usual north wind with no rain and some racing ⚑️πŸ’ͺ πŸ“Έ @jcwindsurf X @pwaworldtour #riding4alby #ita140 #windsurf #windsurfing by @matteo_iachino
No wind on Day 1 of the Japanese stop of the @pwaworldtour . We have been waiting on the beach preparing all our gear. A slight chance of racing tomorrow but from Monday the forecast looks spicy 😎⚑️ πŸ“Έ @jcwindsurf #riding4alby #ita140 #windsurfing #japanwindsurfing by @matteo_iachino
MEN'S FOIL SLALOM WORLD TITLE ON THE LINE IN JAPAN πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅πŸ† Matteo Iachino leads the World Tour heading into Yokosuka. He finished outside the top three just once in eight eliminations in Sylt, but he has never won in Japan. Can he finally convert it to a win and take a second world title in 2026? Fabian Wolf is the man closest to him, fresh from a breakout Sylt with three bullets and a real shot at a maiden world title. Amado Vrieswijk is third and won here in 2023. He'll need to win again and hope Iachino finishes outside the top two to finally take a Foil Slalom World Title to add to his Freestyle accolades from 2021. Pierre Mortefon sits fourth and, even if his World title hopes are slimmer than usual this season, he is always is a contender for the event title. The battle for the top ten is wide open. John Soukos comes in on the back of his best result on tour, fifth in Sylt. Bruno Martini, Benoit Merceur, Maciek Rutkowski, William Huppert and Jordy Vonk will all be chasing a place in the top ten. Who goes home a world champion? Follow all the action live at pwaworldtour.com πŸ“Ί πŸ† Fly!
