Meet Matthew Tsoumaris, one of the hospitality veterans behind Grand Public Kitchen + Bar in Coconut Grove. 🇬🇷➡️🇨🇦➡️🇺🇸

Born into a hospitality family in Greece, Matthew grew up around the energy, culture and connection of bringing people together. His passion for hospitality continued in Canada, where he began building his career while attending university in London, Ontario, before making his mark on Toronto’s hospitality and nightlife scene.

Known as “Matty Uniq,” Matthew created Uniq Lifestyle and became involved with some of Toronto’s most recognized restaurants, bars and entertainment ventures, including Baro, Escobar, Wildflower and Petty Cash.

But Matthew has always been about creating experiences, not just opening venues. He helped pioneer the “Coffee Party” concept, turning daytime spaces into social experiences centered around coffee, music, wellness and dancing, without the pressure of alcohol or the next-day hangover. Inspired by the European mentality of gathering over coffee, the concept brought people together during the day with local music and a fresh twist on nightlife.

The idea has since been activated in venues including Stack Market and The Well, and now Matthew has brought that same spirit to Grand Public in Coconut Grove, incorporating daytime energy and a more social, wellness-minded approach into the restaurant’s day-to-night rhythm.

Located in the former Planta Queen and longtime Cheesecake Factory space at CocoWalk, Grand Public is Matthew and partner Ryan Bassels’ latest hospitality project, with Chef Leo Pablo leading a contemporary American menu with global coastal influences.

From Greece to Toronto and now Florida, Matthew is bringing a little European hospitality mentality, Toronto energy and his own twist to our little hidden-gem village of Coconut Grove. 🇬🇷🇨🇦🇺🇸☕️🎶

Something special happened last week and here’s the story !!

For the past 8 months we have been working hard behind the scenes to develop our own coffee product.
Something we could use to supply at our events and keep up with demand. After trying endless amount of ready to drink ( RTD ) products off the shelf at grocery stores we found a Gap in the market nothing was healthy. Tons of sugar products or milks that had high calories or cold brews that just tasted like water.

Off we went to create somthing for people like us and our @thecoffeeparty community. A product we believed in low calories no sugar but best coffee flavour to fuel our everyday life style.

Through blind taste test at our events and over 1000 people feedback we listened to what the people wanted and finally created a product we can stand behind !

We were supposed to launch until our 1 year anniversary on Dec 27 at our final event of the year but we got a call saying the cans were fresh off the line and ready just in time for this past weekend Morning Movement event.

We teamed up with the lovely ladies of @houseofmvment To put on a Pilates social for 300 people and this was the perfect timing to introduce our product. Followed up the next day with our first @barobrunchclub run for the running community !!

Sometimes the universe sends you gifts when you least expect it and last week was one of them ! Thank you to everyone who joined us over the weekend and excited to see everyone and let them try our product at our 1 year of @thecoffeeparty on Dec 27 @steamwhistlebrewing
