Dry pasta and canned sauce are among the most popular and essential items in our pantry distributions. Pasta is nutritious, budget friendly, shelf stable, and can easily be stretched to feed a whole family with added veggies or proteins! 🌾🍅 Maui Food Bank's Easy Skillet Pasta 🍝 Ingredients: - 1 box dry pasta (macaroni, penne, or spaghetti) - 1 jar tomato pasta sauce or canned diced tomatoes - 1 can protein (tuna, chicken, or Spam, drained) - 1 can vegetables (corn, green beans, or mixed veggies, drained) - 1 tablespoon cooking oil or butter. Add salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Instructions: - Boil the pasta in salted water according to box directions, then drain and set aside. - Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat, add your drained canned protein, and cook for two minutes until warmed through. - Stir in your drained canned veggies and pasta sauce, allowing the mixture to simmer for three to four minutes. - Toss in the cooked pasta, mix thoroughly until coated and heated, season to taste, and serve warm! When organizing a food drive or making a food donation, shelf stable items like pasta, canned tomatoes, canned tuna, and whole grains are always high on our priority list. 📦🛒 What is your family's favorite way to prepare a cozy pasta dish? When Brandi Saragosa took a job as a driver for Maui Food Bank in 2019, she had no idea she’d be at the helm of the nonprofit seven years later. Throughout the years, Saragosa served in multiple of roles, starting out as a delivery driver, then director of operations, chief operating officer and now Chief Executive Officer. Aloha State Daily caught up with Saragosa to learn about the lessons she’s learned and her goals for Maui Food Bank’s future. “If anything, that has taught me that you can’t get too comfortable,” she said. “You have to be innovative. You have to be willing to grow and change and fail and make mistakes and get up from them.” Learn more about Saragosa and her journey with Maui Food Bank through the link in our bio. #AlohaStateDaily #HawaiiNews by @mauifoodbank

We are so very grateful for these donations that came in at the @northshorefarmersmarketmaui yesterday for the @mauifoodbank. If you live in Ha‘ikū and happen to have anything to donate to the MFB, we can bring it down to them as part of our ongoing food drive for our friends & neighbors who depend on the MFB for assistance. If we all work together, we can turn food security into food sovereignty!!! 😊❤️🤙 by @mauifoodbank
Behind every bag of groceries delivered across Maui, Molokai, and Lanai is a dedicated team of volunteers and community partners! 🌟 As we move through the autumn season, our volunteers are hard at work sorting fresh produce, packing food boxes, and serving local families at distribution sites across the island. 🌾🚜 🌺 Your time, energy, and aloha keep our operations running smoothly every single week. We are so grateful for every hand that helps us nourish Maui Nui! 🙏❤️ #MauiFoodBank #VolunteerMaui #mauistrong #MauiOhana by @mauifoodbank
