Yesterday I had the privilege of hosting a long jump clinic in my hometown, Wolseley. Growing up, we didn’t always have the resources, the structure, or specialized coaching but we had dreams. The mission remains the same: to change the narrative. To build the training culture I once needed. To give these young athletes what I didn’t have.To open doors earlier. To show the next generation that greatness can rise from Wolseley.

Grateful to @endurocad , @athletesacademyclub , and @theachieveclub for helping turn vision into impact. by @maxthe_sniper9_

For everyone wondering why I've been so quiet after my injury. I just took some time to process the severity of my injury and the way forward. Unfortunately, I won't be able to compete the rest of the season. The results of my MRI scan shows that I have torn my ACL in my left knee. This means that I will have to go for surgery to reconstruct my ACL. The recovery period for this injury is 9- 12 months. For now, I'm doing prehab work to prepare for the surgery. For all of you guys who know sports may think this is a career-ending injury and may ask will I come back and be able to compete at the same level. For me, there is only one way to find out. To control what I can and have faith in God to guide me and fully embrace what God wants to teach me in this moment and time. And I know it's human nature to blame others when things don't go our way, especially when we have remained disciplined and faithful through the process. So my message to everyone reading this post is to realise that failure or setbacks are a golden opportunity to reevaluate what is your point of reference that anchors you. Because what anchors you must be able to sustain you. So when you have the right anchor there is no need to doubt because your faith lies in your anchor. An anchor is only needed in the deep and Jesus's intentions aren't just to save us from the storm but to sustain us through the storm.

Today I had the privilege of sharing my story with the SACE bursary students at Hoërskool Stellenbosch.

It’s always special seeing opportunities being created for young people who come from backgrounds similar to mine.

We spoke about how every journey is different, and why it’s important to own and appreciate your own. Our unique journeys are a gift, and along the way we are given different tools, skills and people to help us navigate them.

We also spoke about success and how true success can only really be defined by the individual. Your journey doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s for it to be meaningful.

Lastly, we spoke about gratitude. It’s important not to let familiarity with opportunity, access and resources turn into entitlement. Sometimes the things we become used to are the very things we once prayed for, worked towards or wished we had. by @maxthe_sniper9_

Just a casual chat, part 2.Talking about the dream, a little advice heading into the upcoming season, and why I truly believe I was made for long jump. by @maxthe_sniper9_

Psalms 38:4 by @maxthe_sniper9_

Just a casual chat about the season ahead. What I’m expecting from myself, how I plan on getting there, a few things I wish I knew when I first started athletics, and some of the little things I always do before I compete. Still figuring things out, still learning, and just enjoying the process along the way. by @maxthe_sniper9_
