❤️‍🩹 Sharing my 15-year-old daughter, Liel Dina A”H Light
🌸 A journey of grief & faith

POSTS STORIES REELS

Lately there have been so many new faces here.
And every so often, someone quietly asks, “Who is Liel?”

So I wanted to share her.
Not with explanations or answers, just who she was.

Liel was my daughter.
She was light, warmth, and a heart that made people feel seen.
She continues to be the reason behind so much of what I do, even now.

This post is simply an introduction.
For those who are new, and for those who already carry her with them.
This is Liel 🤍 by @mayanamdar_

This is my story of losing my daughter Liel Namdar A”H, four years ago. She was only 15 when she was suddenly killed in a car crash.

At first, the grief consumed my life: I was not able to function.

It took time, but slowly I learned how to live with the grief: not to push it aside but to sit with it.

I never chose this part of my life but I am leaning into it.

I am choosing to share my daughter’s light. by @mayanamdar_

This isn’t just a thank you — it’s a piece of my heart.

24 hours in LA 🤍
Then up to the mountains for Shabbat!

I was invited to share my Liel’s story at Valley Torah High School’s Shabbaton in Running Springs, and wow… the scenery, the warm welcome, and these girls!! Such a beautiful Shabbat spent sharing my Liel, her heart, and the way she lived 🫶 by @mayanamdar_

Wish I could’ve been there!! 🥹❤️

Last year I had the privilege of hearing @mayanamdar_ speak at my seminary, and it left such a huge impact on me. Her beautiful daughter Liel was tragically killed by a drunk driver in 2021, and ever since hearing her story, I’ve felt such a deep connection to her, especially because I have the privilege of sharing her name. I really try my best to continue her legacy and keep spreading Liel’s light. ❤️

So special seeing my mom and Maya together!! ❤️

Today’s Hebrew date, 11 Cheshvan, marks the yahrzeit of our Matriarch Rachel, Rachel Imeinu, the quintessential Jewish mother who embodies humility and boundless love. With divine foresight, she chose to be buried not by her husband, but along the roadside near Bet Lechem, so she could be there for us in our times of exile. Her grave has become a place of refuge, where countless generations have poured out their broken hearts. In her merit and through her selfless prayers, Hashem promised her, “Minee koleich mibechi v’einayich midim’ah”—Rachel, “hold back your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears”—because “v’shavu banim ligevulam,” “your children will return to their land.”

Rachel’s unwavering devotion and self-sacrifice echo in King David’s Tehillim, where he offers words of hope and promise: “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy” (Psalm 126:5). Just as Rachel wept for her children and was promised their return, Tehillim reminds us to place our hope and trust in Hashem’s kindness and redemption. Both Rachel and David understood our struggles, our longings, and the healing and salvation we seek.

Mama Rochel, thank you for teaching us humility, selfless love, and sacrifice, and for listening, understanding, and continually praying on our behalf. As we daven, inspired by your example, may Hashem fulfill His promise to you and to all of us. May we soon be healed, uplifted, and reunited with the ultimate Redemption, when we return home, redeemed by Mashiach.

Yom Kippur has ended in Mikvah Liel, Chișinău. The fast is over, the gates have closed, and still water holds the softest light.

Rabbi Akiva taught: Ashreichem Yisrael! How fortunate are you, Israel. Before Whom do you become pure, and Who purifies you? Your Father in Heaven. The navi calls Hashem "Mikveh Yisrael," the Mikvah of Israel — and in Loshon Kodesh, mikveh also means hope. Today we carry both forward: the purity we were just granted, and the hope that carries us into the year ahead.

This mikvah stands because of hope, and because of one extraordinary mother. @mayanamdar_ , Maya, your Liel's name is written on these walls and carried in these waters. Your love turned the deepest longing into a wellspring of purity for an entire community. Every woman who immerses here rises through waters carrying your daughter's name, and every tevilah adds light to her neshama and brings the geulah closer.

The navi promises: "I will sprinkle pure waters upon you, and you will be pure." Chassidus teaches that geulah is a world that becomes one great mikvah, when knowledge of Hashem covers the earth as waters cover the sea, and techiyas hameisim returns to us the souls we hold in our hearts.

From these living waters in Moldova to wherever you are: may the seal of this Yom Kippur carry you into a year of revealed good — and may this be the year the whole world is immersed in light.
