Different Stories, Same Home.
May Madbouly — 2026 ❤️ Different Stories, Same Home.
My new collection.

This exhibition started with a simple thought:
What makes a place feel like home?

I grew up noticing the little things — old doors, balconies, faces, streets, colours, and details that somehow stay with us long after we leave a place.

Over the years, I moved between cities, collected memories, became a mother, an artist and a teacher… but somehow, in my work, I kept returning to the same place.

Egypt.

Not exactly as it was, but⁩ by @maymadbouly

An exhibition by May Madbouly by @maymadbouly

Today, we turn the last page of HADOUTA.

From the streets that shaped me,
to my university, my home, my desk, my father’s desk…
every place left a little piece of itself in my work.

And somehow, all those pieces became one story.

Different stories. Same home.

Today is the final day of the exhibition…
but some stories don’t really end.
They just stay with us. 🤍

Soon Dubai حدوتة دبي 2027 🤍🤍🤍 by @maymadbouly

I chased this feeling in a painting.
The softness of sketching, the strength of ink, the freedom of pen lines, and the soul of architecture all in one piece.

And finally… I made the one I had been seeing in my mind for so long.

This work feels very close to my heart. 🤍 by @maymadbouly

PLACES, PEOPLE AND PIECES OF A LIFE
HADOUTA is more than a collection of paintings.
It is a personal journey expressed through colour, texture and layers a story of the cities I have lived in, the people I have met, and the moments that stayed with me.
Each piece begins as
a feeling... a street, a window, a face, a conversation, or a memory. I paint the chaos, the beauty and the small details that make a place feel like home. Layers of paint, mixed materials and intuitive brushstrokes allow me to capture the energy of a city — not just as it looks, but as it feels. by @maymadbouly

started with a plan.

I knew what I wanted to create…

or at least, I thought I did.

But somewhere along the way,

I stopped following the plan

and started following the feeling.

I didn’t always know what I was doing…

I just knew it was coming from somewhere deep inside me.

And slowly,

the painting became more honest than the plan. by @maymadbouly

BEHIND EVERY WINDOW.

A city is never just buildings.
Behind every window, there is a life.
A memory. A conversation. Someone arriving, someone leaving, someone simply watching the world go by.

I’ve always been drawn to the people hidden inside architecture — the small human stories that make a city feel alive.

Windows, people, memories.
Different lives. One city.

You start from the door.

Every home has a story.
And it begins at the door.
A threshold that reflects the soul within.

DOORS THAT TELL YOUR STORY. by @maymadbouly

THE ONES BEFORE US

Mixed Media on Canvas — May Madbouly

Faces overlap like fragments of memory — some seen, some hidden, some carried through generations.
Gold holds what time cannot erase, while blue brings the pulse of the present.
They are not portraits of specific people, but traces of those who came before us — their stories, their strength, and the pieces of them that quietly remain within us.

We carry more than our own story. by @maymadbouly

Between walls, memories and gold.
A city I carry with me. by @maymadbouly

Maybe I’m oversharing. Maybe I’m not.

But I still can’t get over the last two months.

Watching my father go through dementia… watching someone you love change in front of you, day after day. Trying to be strong, trying to accept, trying to keep going.

I try. I really try.

I paint. I work. I laugh. I go out. I show up. I try to feel like I’m okay and that life is moving.

But I’m tired.

It’s not easy. Not easy at all.

And maybe sharing is part of how I deal with it.
This is my life right now. This is my journey. And I don’t want to pretend it isn’t happening.

So yes, I will share.
I will share the art, the beautiful days, the difficult ones, the memories, the pain, and everything in between.

And if that feels like too much for someone, you can unfollow me. It’s okay. It’s up to you.

But I will share my journey.
Because this is me trying to live through it. 🤍 by @maymadbouly
