Some spaces are designed to make you pause. Thanks-Giving Square in downtown Dallas was created as a place of reflection and gratitude in the heart of the city. Its spiraling Chapel of Thanksgiving rises toward the Glory Window, one of the largest horizontal stained glass works in the world, filling the space with color and light. It’s a beautiful reminder of what architecture can do when it’s designed around how people feel, not just how they move. This November, we’re celebrating a Texas landmark built entirely around giving thanks. Swipe to explore. ➡️ by @maysearchitects

The plans are approved. The vision is taking shape. After more than a year of dedication behind the scenes, the future Dual-Brand Tapestry Collection & Homewood Suites by Hilton in North Phoenix has received permit approval. Inspired by the colors, culture, and landscape of Arizona, this project is designed to offer guests both a sense of the Southwest and a place to recharge. A milestone worth celebrating and a testament to the talent, collaboration, and persistence of our team. Congratulations to everyone involved. by @maysearchitects

If it feels like there's construction on every corner right now, that isn't your imagination. Fall is the busiest stretch of the building year in North Texas. The heat that slowed down crews all summer finally breaks, the ground is workable, and every project on the board is chasing the same milestone: get the building dried in, roof on, walls closed, openings sealed, before winter weather can reach the inside. Once a building is dried in, the work moves indoors and the schedule stops depending on the sky. Missing that window can cost weeks. It's also why our site visits pick up this time of year. The decisions being made right now are the ones that determine whether a project opens on time. What other architecture topics would you like us to cover? Tell us in the comments. 🔗 Get to know us at maysearchitects.com by @maysearchitects
This month we hosted Mayse’s annual Field Day, a chance to celebrate something we value every day: working together. From solving puzzles to competing in rooftop knight games and a paper ball race, the day was full of laughs, friendly competition, and teamwork. Moments like these remind us that great design starts with a great team. Thank you to everyone who joined in on the fun! 🔗 Get to know us at maysearchitects.com by @maysearchitects
The light changes in October, and it changes what a courtyard like this looks like. By late afternoon, string lights start doing the work sunlight was doing an hour before. The wood siding, all warm horizontal lines, catches that low golden glow and starts to look less like a wall and more like a backdrop. Shadows stretch long across the gravel. The fire pit stops being a nice feature and becomes the reason people don't want to go inside yet. Architects design for this moment on purpose. Where the seating faces, how the light fixtures are spaced, how much the wood is meant to warm up as the sun drops. All of it decided before anyone actually sits in one of those green chairs on a fall evening and doesn't want to leave. 🔗 Get to know us at maysearchitects.com by @maysearchitects
October is Careers in Construction Month, so here's the honest answer to a question we get a lot: how do you actually become an architect? An accredited professional degree. Then 3,740 documented hours of experience across six areas of practice, working under a licensed architect. Then six exam divisions. Then a state license, and the seal that comes with it — the one that says you are personally responsible for what gets built. It's a long road. It's also one of the few careers where you can drive past something twenty years later and know you helped build it. We're always looking for talent. Send your resume and portfolio to recruiting@maysearchitects.com. 🔗 Get to know us at maysearchitects.com by @maysearchitects
For a few short weeks every fall, North Texas gets the weather everyone claims they moved here for. October is when a patio earns its keep. The highs settle, the evenings finally cool off, and a space that sat empty through August fills up every night. That window is narrow, which is exactly why outdoor space has to be designed rather than added. Shade that still works in September. Wind protection that works in November. Heaters, lighting, drainage, and the walk from the door to the last table. All of it decided long before the first cool front. Good outdoor space isn't luck. It's designing for a climate that gives you a narrow window and asking it to work anyway. 🔗 Get to know us at maysearchitects.com by @maysearchitects
