Birthday off to a corker thanks to big breakfast by @butterflysinger by @mcfamesy

Evolution of the latest renovation contribution. New side path to connect the new carport to the back door of the house. Lots of shoving dirt around to get workable levels (we are on a crazy sloping block - down and across) and get the fall right. Drainage for every retained step. New fence. Painting. Drainage gravel (had to wash/clean every bucket load). Next up is repairing some other sections of the path that got messed up during the major reno for under the house. by @mcfamesy

Turf has taken well considering the heat. So next project was getting our New Tech Wood battens up. Had to spec some 3mm RHS to handle weight and strength requirements, prime and metal paint, install with aluminum brackets and masonry anchors, string line, use the maths part of my brain to get spacing right, measure and cut 80 battens, pre drill over 150 holes, then finish off with TEK screws. A LOT of work but I t’s come up great though 😊 by @mcfamesy

Finally getting some down time. And you know what that means? Yes… more renovating… but good to finally get some new turf laid. Brutally hot day and turf got delivered just before lunch but you gotta do what you gotta do by @mcfamesy

Another massive project done and dusted. Symphonic Rock involved over 100 people, featuring students across all year levels of our program and from almost every discipline in the building. Packed house, great vibe and my dream team on back of house and technical duties @andy.griffiths.7568 @stevethornelyproducer @griffithuniversity @qldcon by @mcfamesy

Sneaky weekend away for our 25th wedding anniversary. Already soaking up the fresh air, bird calls, good food, and lovely accommodation. Here’s to another 25 @butterflysinger by @mcfamesy

Been a while between drinks. House has been on pause while we waited for Suncorp to reject an insurance claim… but anyway, rendering has been done. I managed to undercoat everything yesterday. Front has been shaved and leveled and ready for turf. Next up: choosing paint colour for the rendered section (toying with a concrete colour to break up the white a bit), ordering steel rails, then battening the voids. by @mcfamesy

51 today. It’s interesting reflecting back on the goals I had as a younger man, coming of age. Many of those things were realised but others were lost to time, proven to be unsuitable, or replaced with infinitely more valuable obsessions like family, my wife, and sharpening who I am and how I choose to live in this world. Still navigating the latter but I’m proud of the progress I’ve made so far. Process not perfection. by @mcfamesy

We had the absolute privilege of watching our precious Lily walk down the aisle to marry her man Marcus today. Niece to @butterflysinger and honorary niece to me, we are so proud of her and the life she’s made for herself. Great day, fab location, good friends. Fantastic! by @mcfamesy

Desert time! Belgian waffles with vanilla ice cream, chocolate fudge drizzle, and fresh strawberries blueberries and blackberries. Delicious! by @mcfamesy

French toast appreciation post. Definitely on the sweeter side but the seasonal fruits were incredible. Blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and edible flowers. Gunshot Cafe @ Chermside FTW. Service is awesome and food is consistent across multiple visits. @thegunshopcafe by @mcfamesy

Da Funk! crushing it at the launch of the new QPAC Melbourne Street Green as part of a new partnership between QPAC and local arts organizations, including my own @qldcon . Amazing venue, fantastic sound and stage, solid food and drinks. What’s not to love?
