13.1 Miles~Your girl conquered her 1st Half Marathon!! I thought I would be nervous morning of the race I wasn’t…I was confident and well prepared after all the training.
1. Mile one was insane as it included literally climbing up the side of a mountain on my hands and knees and sliding down the other side on my butt. (I obviously found one of the hardest trail half marathons in the world lol). @madmoose.events #thelmaandlouisehalfmarathon
2. Set a goal that scares you. I was definitely nervous in January when I set this goal but the nerves went away as the 3+ months of training went along.
3. Your tribe is a necessity. It helped that part of my running tribe was crazy enough to also sign up and tackle their first half marathon with me…a community of positive women is a necessity. @tamishaharris @krisbarre @nicolealiciamd @dr.jacquelinedow @vivekabizzell
4. Running my first half in Utah was intentional. I wanted to run in a place that was absolutely breathtaking so the race would be memorable.
This training challenged me and pushed me beyond my comfort zone…I’m so thankful for that. I am thankful because this level of discipline conditioned my mind and body. It’s also allowed me to win Professionally and Personally. #halfmarathon #womenhalfmarathon #blackwomenrun by @meccamooretartt

Ghostbusters 👻 ~ Happy Halloween 🎃, creating core memories with our kids is so very important. God has slowed us down more recently, in order for create intentional experiences and space for that time to exist more often.
*
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve watched Ghostbusters growing up and now with our littles Christian wants to watch it all the time. Children will remind you to never be so serious “adulting” that you forget to laugh throughout the day and to never stop playing.

We joined hundreds of families in the Grant Park Neighborhood…listen they go all out 🎃. Thank you to the Grant Park neighborhood for always creating an unforgettable experience. #happyhalloween

Some people attend college. Others EXPERIENCE it! ❤️🖤

LOVE MY CAU FAMILY! ❤️ Homecoming is truly COMING HOME! My heart is so full. The hugs, the laughter, the love, the memories! It felt like someone bottled up our college experience and gave us the opportunity to relive one of the most incredible chapters of our lives. 20 YEARS LATER!

I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard, stayed up until 4AM, or smiled for an entire weekend! Recreating our dorm experience, staying downtown together, and reconnecting was EVERYTHING! We were long overdue! 🥹❤️

This weekend reminded me why choosing an HBCU was one of the BEST decisions of my life.

In high school, I was the 4th Black Homecoming Queen and 1st Black Female Student Body President. I knew what it meant to be the first and the minority. But arriving at Clark Atlanta? I was suddenly surrounded by 🖤 excellence EVERYWHERE. Everyone was the first or the only.

At an HBCU, excellence wasn’t the exception. It was the EXPECTATION!

There is something POWERFUL about being in a place where you don’t have to explain your greatness, your culture, or your identity. You simply get to BE, GROW, LEAD, and BECOME!

CAU didn’t just educate me. It expanded my vision of what was possible.

To our incredible Class of 2006 Homecoming Committee, THANK YOU for giving us a weekend we will NEVER forget! It was EPIC! ❤️🖤

20 years later, the love is still there. See you all in 2031 for the 25 year reunion. 🐾

The Step Show Was Everything 🔥~ It was so important for me that Trinity was apart of my 20 year college reunion experience. Taking her to the step show brought back so many of my college memories.
*
Walking past the dorm where I spent 3 years Beckwith, which was reserved for athletes and transfer students. I stayed in Beckwith after transferring from Hampton @_hamptonu and beginning my Sophomore year at Clark Atlanta. ❤️
*
I grew up watching A Different World and made the best decision to go to an HBCU after visiting 10 HBCUs with my church at the time Turner Chapel AME. I had been accepted by 6 HBCUs and being on campus just felt like a warm hug. Attending an HBCU was a dream ✨.
*
Trinity doesn’t have to experience it by just watching it on TV. The past two summers she has spent on Spelman and Morehouse campuses for a 2 week summer camp. Tonight she’s getting to experience an HBCU homecoming. That’s the beauty of going to school in the AUC being able to have access to so many opportunities not just at Clark but Spelman, Morehouse and Morris Brown.
*
Also her Aunties, my baby sisters attended HBCUs securing full rides as volleyball players Nia @therealniamoore attended @howard1867 and Makeda @aamu1875
Her father @drtartt attended @morehouseatl #morehouseman her Uncle Sean graduated from @famu_1887 her Grandma went to @tuskegeeuniversity for undergrad and received her doctorate at Clark Atlanta University. Her Grandfather attended Tuskegee, which is where her Grandma and Grandpa met.
Now her big sister @raqueltartt_ is attending Howard University. #legacy #blackexcellence #hbculove by @meccamooretartt

20 Years Later~The most amazing experience celebrating 20 years…this was definitely one for the books. Some people just attend college and others experience college.

Attending Clark Atlanta was one of the top 3 best experiences in my life. Life long friendships, my heart is full. #cau #cauhomecoming #caualum #tailgate

Silence The Shame~ Shanti @shantidas404 celebrating you today on World Mental Health Day and all of the work you have done to “Silence The Shame”.
*
There are people in this world that see a need and they are moved through life experiences to fulfill the need. A need that is filled through a passion that is often produced through pain. Your passion has ignited something so very special that has touched the lives of thousands. Congratulations on raising 200k at the Gala last night.
*
Lover @drtartt congrats on your role this year as Honorary Chair for the Silence The Shame Gala. For 25 years you have poured your life’s work into mental health as one of the top mental health experts. What makes you unique in my eyes is you don’t sit behind the computer or on the “couch”. You are actively doing the work in the community. Working with youth in their schools to combat child depression , speaking to corproate leaders about mental well-being, being a “father” to the fatherless as many of your clients who started with you as kids are now adults, preaching about mental health in church’s ⛪️ across the U.S., working with professional sports teams, teaching couples how to have the very best marriage @aweekendforlove , sharing your expertise on your radio show spots, reaching those who need it most across the globe with your YouTube channel and your community Transforming Circle.
*
When I look at you Lover I see someone who is not just using their gift for themselves, you are using your gift to save lives. I see the weight on your shoulders as someone with big dreams and ideas to help many, and God sees that too. God will continue to reward your work.

Happy Anniversary Lover ✨~Being in NYC for work and you making it a priority to show up to make sure we celebrated our Anniversary together, is one of the many reasons why I married you 12 years ago @drtartt
*
I’m thankful that I married a man who believes in investing in our marriage and making necessary adjustments. Thank you for showering me with so much love in this season. During the moments when I haven’t felt much like myself. Thank you for seeing me.

Date Night~ Over the past six weeks life has been a whirlwind, so much so that we had to put an immediate pause on our date nights until I felt better. It was the perfect reason to get dressed up for my Lover.
*
Stepping out tonight with my Lover to celebrate the love between Lauren & Jason was a reminder of our beginning.
*
It was a sacred day to celebrate the “Miles” @ms.la.travis @jmiles404 future together and covering over their marriage. Weddings have a funny way of reminding couples about the beginning, the commitment we made between God and ourselves. While watching Lauren and Jason say their vows it was a reminder of us upholding our vows.
*
Congratulations Lauren and Jason, wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together. May God protect your union and keep you both in alignment with each other. I pray that God allows for you to always honor, love, value, celebrate and cherish each other. Love is a beautiful thing and you’ve found each other…that is a gift, to find your person ✨ #datenight #spelhouse #morehousemen #AUC
It was also a mini reunion for those of us who went to school in the AUC 🖤✨ and a night for the culture. by @meccamooretartt
