Today we're celebrating Mr Ironman himself and MT club chair Ade Grimmond.

His exploits at the recent 70.3 in Greece took him to the milestone of 50, yes 50!, branded IM events, with 15 full distance and 35 70.3 races making up that total.

These races have taken him round the world as far as the Gold Coast down under, to the World Champs, with all manner of podiums and highly ranked finishes amongst them.

Which should come as no surprise. He always gets a good start and has a PB IM swim of 49.40.

He's also a thoroughly lovely chap with time for everyone, gives back through coaching, and is the first to shake the hands of new members and athletes, always there to support and with wise words.

Top man.....and is 50 the end of it. Somehow we're betting not. 😍

Sunday saw the last of the TESE events take place, and despite a probable need for points we didn't really as a club embrace Southwater 2026 as have in previous years - we'll have to see where our main team efforts at Sevenoaks and Brighton place us.

Ideally we need three events that we fully attack, so we're a bit short of showing our best this year 🙁

That didn't stop Nicola, George and Sophie lining up though, to take on what is often a fun relay.

Not sure about fun in the end however with a morning of drama in store for many of the racers, as the swim became something of an athlete vs Day of the Triffids experience, with many having to be physically rescued after getting caught up in weeds, reeds, and general foliage within the lake, and lots of others needing to take a rest on the paddleboards of marshalls to recover from the struggles of freeing themselves.

This led to to a DNF for George, who did complete all the other disciplines, as did Sophie and Nicola. So no points, but they deserve a huge amount of kudos for showing up, and racing on.

Fingers crossed the final TESE league tables will be out soon. Ideally we'd hope all members would have done one race for the club at least, they are normally a fun morning out, not always a fight against hostile greenery - maybe a proper go at 3 events next year? by @medwaytri

These guys ❤️ both second in their categories, Cameron Frow in TS3 and Zara Lett in TS2 at Brighton. I didn’t catch sight of them despite looking, probably they were too fast!

Well done to a couple of the hardest working juniors around, fresh from helping the South East region to their IRC win. Been quite the couple of weeks.

Great work also by Ayrton Alemao who won the youth race, and who we did see - the blue helps! :-)

Just the reassuring sight you want to see when turning up to set up in transition for a race. Lots of friendly faces in blue.

Hi Rob for Facebook

A huge congratulations to Zara Lett, Flavia Hitchings and Cameron Frow, who represented the South East region at the national Inter Regional Championships and helped the team secure an outstanding overall victory! 🏆

Competing against the best young triathletes from regions across the country, all three MedwayTri athletes delivered brilliant individual performances:
• Zara Lett — 2nd place in TS2 Girls🥈
• Flavia Hitchings — 5th place in TS3 Girls
• Cameron Frow — 10th place in TS3 Open

These results are a huge credit to the athletes’ dedication, consistency and determination, and to the way they supported their South East teammates throughout the event. Being selected to represent the region at a national championship is a brilliant achievement; helping the South East to win makes the occasion even more memorable.

Everyone at MedwayTri is enormously proud of you. Congratulations to Zara, Flavia and Cameron, and to the entire South East squad, coaches and support team on a fantastic national title-winning performance.

Medway Tri went for it in a big way at The Oysterman on the slopes of Tankerton at the weekend, in terms of both competitors and support.

Some great results, two AG wins, a 2nd, a 3rd and a 5th, but most importantly everyone had a ball! Felt like a proper family and friends morning out. Exactly what tri should be all about in my book.

Blue Skies, Blue Sea, Blue kit. Bluetiful!
