Yalla habayeb, it’s time to roll grape leafs! 🌱

Whether you call it wara2 3enab, dawali, dolma, yalanji, or sarma, one thing we can all agree on is that rolling it together makes it tastes better!

Join us on November 19 for an evening of rolling grape leaves, making new friends, and channelling our inner khaltos and Tetas (galabiyas are highly encouraged) 💅🏽

All skill levels are welcomed! We’ll be giving you a crash course on how to roll it and we’ll be providing a vegetarian 7ashwa/khaltet ma7shy, grape vine leaves. Make sure you bring a containers so you could take it home with you and have ready to cook pre-rolled ma7shy whenever you feel like it!

And of course feel free to bring your own 7ashwa and whatever vegetables you’ve been wanting to stuff with you.

This event is free to attend, but donations of any amount are appreciated! All donations will go toward covering the cost of materials and venue rental.

Yalla nleff sawa 💚

We’re throwing a poetry workshop on September 24 at Arch Café from 6:30–9:30 PM! ✍🏽✨

Izzy and Reem will be diving into the process of writing a poem — how we approach it, where we start, and how an idea turns into something on the page. We’d also love to hear about your process and the different ways you approach writing!

Then we’ll give everyone some time to write a little something of their own before opening up the floor for an open mic. You can share what you came up with (in Arabic or English!) during the workshop, bring another piece you’ve been wanting to read, or just sit back and listen.

This event is only for queer and trans people from the Arabic-speaking region 🌈

Our next Qisasna Book Club is happening outside at Bickford park on August 13, from 7 to 9 PM. We’ll send the the exact location to registrants that day!

Last week, we’ve had some riveting conversations around our current read, Homosexual Intifada: A Queer Palestinian Anthology, edited by Hannah Moushabeck and George Abraham, and we didn’t make it through all the pages we meant to discuss 🤭

So for our next hang, we’ll be reading pages 65 till 145.
