Till next time, D.C.! I had so much fun hosting “Baton Rouge Meets D.C.” during this year’s Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference. I got to moderate conversations with community leaders, elected officials, educators and healthcare professionals about the issues and opportunities impacting our communities. Grateful for the conversations, the connections and the chance to represent Baton Rouge in D.C. And a big thank you to the planning committee for inviting me to be part of such a special evening. 🤎 by @melaniexlowe
In 3, 2, 1… I’m officially a Cane’ Alum! 🙌🏾 All Glory goes to the Most High and Almighty God for protecting my soul throughout all the days of my life. On Friday, May 8th, I graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism. Going 1,000 miles away from home at 18 changed my life forever, and I will never regret the decision I made four years ago. Thank you to my family for every sacrifice you made to give me better opportunities. As the only daughter of immigrant parents, I will always strive to make you proud. To UMTV, thank you for helping me find my voice. Walking into a news studio with no experience was terrifying, but once the lights turned on and the camera started rolling, I discovered my passion for storytelling and serving my community. To the TOO Real Tau Rho Chapter, a “thank you” will never be enough. I am eternally grateful to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for gifting me the best sisters, mentors, and role models I could have ever dreamed of. To D.R. 35, thank you for believing in me and trusting me to uphold the ideals of this great sorority. To my S6 babies, I will forever be proud of you all and grateful to have ushered you into this illustrious sisterhood. And to my R.A. 32 sisters, thank you for becoming my lifeline during one of the lowest valleys of my life. Thanks for all the times you made me laugh to tears, every late-night FaceTime, stroll practice, group chat, and memory. I have no blood sisters, but because of one meeting in Fall 2024, I now have 31 women I cannot imagine my life without. No matter where life takes us, my love for you all knows no bounds. All of you are my reminder that there is good in this world. AOML, my sisters. LLTP! ❤️ I’ll be back on your TV screens very soon. Next stop: Baton Rouge, Louisiana! For one last time, reporting live from the University of Miami— I’m Melanie Lowe.
