🇬🇷 GREEK ISLAND VIBES ON THE YARRA! ☀️💙 @afloat_melbourne is back for another season and this year it’s bringing a taste of Greece to the heart of Melbourne. Set right on the Yarra, the whole space has been transformed with blue-and-white details, relaxed waterfront seating and a menu packed with Mediterranean favourites. It’s such a gorgeous spot for a long lunch, afternoon drinks or dinner by the river. 🌊✨ We stopped in for lunch and tried a little bit of everything including Greek salad, dips with pita, yoghurt & herb marinated chicken, grilled octopus, saganaki and the 250g O’Connor Black Angus Porterhouse served with herb butter, roasted peppers and skordalia. 🥩🐙 There’s also gyros, seafood, pizzas, lamb dishes and plenty of share plates if you’re heading in with a group. And if you’re not drinking alcohol, the frozen Miami Vice with pineapple, coconut, lime and strawberry was such a fun summer option. 🍍🥥🍓 📍 Afloat, Yarra River – Melbourne CBD Melbourne really does turn it on when the sun comes out. ☀️ Comment AFLOAT for all the details and SAVE this one for your next city lunch or dinner! Such a lovely morning at Meta’s Parenting Village brunch at Lenny Cafe! ☕️❤️ Caught up with other parenting creators, swapped ideas and learnt more about Instagram and Facebook algorithms, insights and the new Meta app, MUSE. I’ve been doing this for years and still come away with something new to try! Thanks @kirstwilsonkw and the Meta team for having me 🥰 by @melbournemum

Greetings from Indonesia! 🇮🇩 A few of you have been asking what’s brought me here, and I’m excited to share a little more. I’ve been invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, @kemlu_ri, to join creators from five countries for the Friends of Indonesia program, hosted by the Indonesian government. Our journey takes us through Jakarta, Solo and Bali, exploring the country’s culture, food and local experiences. Along the way, I’ll be sharing an Australian family travel perspective, with ideas for those keen to explore more of Indonesia. Here’s a first look at what we’ve been up to so far. There are plenty more stories to share, from the capital to Central Java and Bali. 🌿 #FriendsOfIndonesia #FriendsOfKJRI #WonderfulIndonesia #VisitIndonesia #EnjoyJakarta #SoloIndonesia #VisitBali #FamilyTravel #MelbourneWithKidz by @melbournemum
Fish & chips like it used to be 🐟🍟 Some places just feel special the moment you walk in — and Alex’s Fish & Chips is one of them. Alex and Lia are genuinely some of the loveliest people you’ll meet. They’ve been showing up for their community nonstop since opening in 1982, and you can feel that love in everything they do. Even recently, after Lia went through back surgery, they just kept going — because this place, and the people who support it, truly mean everything to them. Alex’s passion is something else. He does things the old way, by hand, with care and pride. He even closed the shop for three days last year because the potatoes at the market weren’t up to his standards — that’s how much quality matters here. No shortcuts. Ever. Watching him chat with the kids, seeing Lia’s warmth behind the counter, and tasting fish and chips wrapped in paper the way we remember… it honestly brought back so many childhood memories. If you’re chasing proper, nostalgic fish and chips the way it used to be - and want to support a family-run business that truly means something to its community - this is one place well worth visiting. Simple. Honest. Made with heart. This is why places like this deserve all the love 🤍 📍 11 Ford Rd, Altona 💵 Cash only (they don’t have eftpos) 💛 Family-run since 1982 Read more on our blog #MelbourneWithKids #MelbourneFoodie #Altona #MelbsWest #melbourneeats by @melbournemum
Check out this tiny taco shop tucked down a Melbourne laneway! 🌮 We tried every taco at @supertacoau and came away with three favourites. Out of a menu of four. So much for narrowing it down. This little Crossley Street shop belongs to Georgie Larkins, whose years eating around New York and travelling through Mexico eventually led to a taqueria of her own. A mum of three with a background in hospitality, she spent months working on corn tortillas before opening the doors. Those tortillas are pressed in-house, while the kitchen is led by José Angel Delgado Juárez, who previously ran a restaurant in Pachuca, Mexico, before working at Melbourne’s Rockpool. There’s al pastor pork cooked on a vertical spit with pineapple, crispy fish, cauliflower and skirt steak. We ordered the lot. The fish and cauliflower were favourites, and the steak was juicy and full of flavour — definitely one we’d order again. The self-serve salsa bar deserves some attention, too. Salsa verde, salsa macha, salsa roja, red onion and coriander let you finish each taco to your liking. Some of the recipes come from Juárez’s family, which makes learning a little about the food’s background all the more interesting. It’s a small space, with the kitchen in view and a few tables and stools outside. Keep that in mind if you’re heading in with a bigger group. Go with someone happy to share. You’ll want to try more than one. 📍 Shop 8/26 Crossley Street, Melbourne #MelbourneWithKids #MelbourneFood #MelbourneEats #MelbourneCBD #Tacos by @melbournemum
Unforgettable Night at Gimlet! We celebrated in style at the 84th-ranked gem in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, Gimlet at Cavendish House. 🍽️ This historic 1920s building on Russell Street oozes classic European charm right in the heart of Melbourne, and it's become our go-to spot for all occasions. 🏙️🥂 The menu is pure magic, marrying classic European flavours with contemporary Aussie techniques, all cooked to perfection in their wood-fired oven. The commitment to sustainable sourcing makes the experience even more special. Our Taste Journey: - Gnocco fritto, bresaola, parmesan - A luxurious Caviar service - Country sourdough with the dreamiest cultured butter - San Jose saucisson and Sicilian green olives The main courses were a revelation: - Roast corn-fed chicken with salsa verde - Wood-roasted WA rock lobster that melted in our mouths - A massive Dry-aged O’Connor T-Bone with the most heavenly condiments Sides and desserts sealed the deal: - Crispy French fries - Fresh Cavendish House salad - Baked Valrhona chocolate with crème fraîche - Apple and sorrel gelato, frozen meringue, preserved blueberries - And the perfect Affogato with espresso and vanilla gelato! ☕🍨 An evening we'll treasure forever! #FineDiningMelbourne #FoodieAdventures by @melbournemum
