🎾 He wasn't looking for a job. Melvin Guerrero had already bought the equipment to volunteer teaching tennis at His House, a local orphanage — no pay, just an idea of what to give back. A chance hit with a kid at Shula's turned into a job offer that same day.

When he said he couldn't work Saturdays because of his volunteer program, they told him to just bring the kids in.

🏏Before tennis, before pickleball, there was vitilla — a street game Melvin Guerrero grew up playing in the Dominican Republic with a broomstick and bottle caps.

When he finally picked up a racket at the Van Blake Tennis Courts, the ball kept sailing over the fence. So he'd jump over, grab it, come back, and try again. Over and over, until it clicked. Turns out that's been the pattern his whole career.

🎾 Mark and Melvin Guerrero were leaving the Pickleball Slam when it happened — people shouting his name from every direction, so many stopping him for a hug or a high five that Mark showed up half an hour late to his next meeting.

Not because Melvin's famous. Because of what he's built. The full story of The Yards It will be available on podcasting platforms starting today.

🎾We start the week off announcing what's coming.

A borrowed tennis racket. A near-exit from the sport over an injustice he couldn't stomach. A tennis coach who ended up co-owning eight pickleball courts in Hialeah.

That's this week's episode with @melvinpickleball8 — dropping Tuesday. Stay tuned !!
