Meet LAURA G. ~ Played by Laura Gross. Commercial real estate closer by day. Aspiring singer by night. Competitive, quick-witted, and impossible to ignore. Laura has always won by never slowing down. But after a public breakdown on the tennis court, she’s facing the one opponent she can’t outwork: herself. Living with Bipolar I, Laura’s story is about learning that real peace can’t come from winning. It has to come from within. #MentalCharacters #MeetLauraG #LauraGross #BipolarAwareness #MentalHealthMatters #EndTheStigma #MentalHealthRepresentation by @mental_mockumentary

MENTAL is Coming to Hidden Hills Theater for a Special Screening! We’re excited to share that our award-winning improvisational mockumentary, MENTAL, is coming to Hidden Hills Theater for a special community screening on November 6, 2026! Created by Gross Development Productions’ own Laura Gross, a Hidden Hills resident, and starring Laura Gross, Abigail Breslin, and Denise Fennell, MENTAL takes audiences inside the fictional Happy Pines Mental Resort, where dark comedy, unconventional storytelling, and sharp satire explore mental illness in America — while asking one provocative question: Who’s truly “mental”? Think The Office meets Curb Your Enthusiasm with a decidedly unexpected twist! We’re incredibly proud of the recognition MENTAL has received on the film festival circuit, including honors for directing and acting, and we’re thrilled to bring the film to the Hidden Hills community. EVENT DETAILS Friday, November 6, 2026 7:00 PM Hidden Hills Theater This special screening is presented by the Hidden Hills Theater Committee as part of its Community Spotlights series. We hope you’ll join us for a memorable evening of independent cinema, laughter, and a little unexpected madness! Recommended for mature audiences. Contains adult themes, language, and situations. Humbled to get the invite and honored to snag a ticket 🎟️ to the SOLD-OUT comedy short film block at the @burbankfilmfest 🎬✨ Our motivation? The one and only Suzanna Melendez Turner — longtime friend of the office and the director 🎥 of the mockumentary MENTAL. @mental_mockumentary She somehow made mental health insightful, educational… and legitimately hilarious 🤯😂. That’s a tightrope only a true director can walk without spraining an ankle. Kudos, @suzannaqface — we’re proud of you 👏💛 And yes… we even got merch. Because of course we did 😎🛍️ by @mental_mockumentary
One minute you’re talking about mental health... the next you’re attempting a Scottish accent. Host @weeclairehere caught up with director Suzanne Turner and writer, producer, and actor Laura Gross from @mental_mockumentary for a conversation that begins with an honest discussion about mental health, the healing power of humour, and Laura’s personal experiences... before descending into complete and utter madness. It’s heartfelt, hilarious, and perfectly captures the spirit of Mental. 🎥 Camera: @kevinbootphotography ✂️ Editing: @weeclairehere 🎟️ View the full BIFF schedule via the link in our bio.
