PT 03- SECTIONS (ACTIVITY)

Re-defining the third space allows us to question who has rights to free and public spaces in New York and how we can better accommodate diverse user needs in a different way. Opening the park to more mixed-use and user adaptable third spaces frees up a lot of currently blocky and underutilized space that can be given back to the people at various scales and various times of day. Along with all of these ideas, it utilizes adaptive reuse principles with New York’s (hopefully) fading scaffolding systems that have long been overwhelming our sidewalks.

From last semesters sketchbook- a door in Florence painted with the city and the Duomo as the dominating feature. I spent the semester doing a directed study on doors 🚪 by @merylhendersonart

done for now! A piece I started when my grandmother passed earlier this semester, my grandfather who passed when I was in seventh grade was called Buck and she loved westerns so this seemed fitting. Lots of love and gratefulness and color to fill some heartache🩵🩵 by @merylhendersonart
