One of those concepts that started to click as soon as the levels came together.

Layered Terrace explores a sequence of outdoor rooms shaped by grade, planting, and architecture. From the upper dining terrace to the lower garden lounge, each space is designed to feel connected while maintaining its own character.

The first experience of a residence begins before the front door.

For this project, the approach is composed as a gradual movement through the landscape, shaping views, slowing the arrival, and allowing the architecture to emerge within its setting. Planting, surface texture, and alignment work together to create a sense of procession rather than simple access.

At the entry, the vehicular approach and pedestrian threshold resolve into a single arrival court, framing the home’s entry and creating a clear moment of transition.

A quiet moment in the middle of the building.

This courtyard study for the Naches Heights project looks at how a restrained palette of native shrub-steppe planting and basalt outcroppings can define space, filter light, and bring the surrounding ecology into an interior setting.

Lake Ewauna

A look at how hand sketches, digital modeling, and existing site conditions were used together to develop this study.

Each drawing and image offered a different way of understanding the site, helping test ideas around access, planting, and water management within its existing constraints.

Lake Ewauna, Klamath Falls

A project like this begins with vision, then moves quickly into testing and refinement. The perspective establishes intent and experience, while the plan and section resolve circulation, landform, and ecological performance within real constraints. Each drawing plays a specific role in translating restoration goals into a buildable landscape.

Lake Ewauna, Klamath Falls

For this restoration project, my role focused on conceptual site planning and visualization, exploring how viewing platforms, trail connections, and subtle shifts in wetland topography could help people better experience this place.

Through illustrations and visual studies, the work looks at how native plant communities might be reintroduced and how access could be layered into an active, infrastructural landscape.

Design visualization can help start conversations about access, ecology, and how landscapes can be re-imagined over time.

More on the process and imagery at the link in my bio.
