Let’s make some tote bags. by @mgbakerco
The totes I’ve been making are now available on my website, for those who have been asking. 🧵 ✂️ by @mgbakerco
This is my vibe. by @mgbakerco
Chainstitch hemming with the 35800. At this point, I’d let this machine do my taxes if I could find a way. 🐴 by @mgbakerco
Some works in progress. by @mgbakerco
Making a new batch of jeans for the first time in a long while. Fun to be at it again. by @mgbakerco
Here’s an update on the sideseam-less jeans. I decided to do a light DIY wash to soften them up and bring out some highs/lows without going too crazy. The fit is a bit slouchy and tapered, and without side seams they feel even lighter and softer. Not a bad experiment! 👖 by @mgbakerco
Trying out some new construction concepts. I threw a bunch of ideas at this pair to see what sticks. ✂️👖 by @mgbakerco
Attaching handles with my bartack machine, the Juki 1852. I picked this up near the California-Mexico border last year for a steal. This is a fully mechanical, cam-driven machine. I can adjust the stitch length and width (although I tend to keep it as shown here), but otherwise it does exactly one thing, just exceptionally well. Super fun and useful if you regularly need to stab something 28 times. by @mgbakerco
It’s always a joy to use this machine. I used to be scared of felled seams but now they’re my favorite step. by @mgbakerco
The sound is kind of satisfying. Here’s a slow motion vid of my double needle machine producing a stitch. This is a “needle feed” machine. Notice how the needle moves backwards with the fabric? I normally run this machine at 1500 RPM, but I set my servo motor to 100 RPM for this video. Then my camera slows it down another 8x or so. Machines are cool. by @mgbakerco
This process is riveting. by @mgbakerco
