‘tracks, taps’
Mia Gap & Freja Sofie Kirk
curated by Guilherme Vilhena Martins
Klemm’s Downstairs

It is our pleasure to invite you to the opening of ‘tracks, taps’, a duo exhibition with Mia Gap and Freja Sofie Kirk at Klemm’s Downstairs, curated by Guilherme Vilhena Martins.

‘tracks, taps’ explores the entanglement of desire and exhaustion in an image-saturated world. The exhibition traces two distinct yet complementary approaches to image-making, where physical and digital realities fold into one another through processes of accumulation, exposure, and concealment. It unfolds through this tension, positioning the image as a mutable site where seduction, materiality, and simulation coexist without resolution.

‘tracks, taps’ opens at Klemm’s Downstairs on September 10, 2026, and runs through October 24, 2026. The exhibition is part of Berlin Art Week, which takes place September 9—13, 2026.

Mia Gap explores a posthuman world where kinetic, algorithm-driven works function autonomously. Her conceptual and experimental practice is both intuitive and image-based, unfolding across cross-media forms. By converting digital processes into analogue expressions, she constructs symbolic yet staged compositions that reflect a post-digital aesthetic. Through a narrative lens, her work examines how digital media shape reality, reinforce stereotypes, and acquire a material presence in the physical world.

Gap has exhibited her work at institutions and exhibitions including UdK Berlin, Galerie Anton Janizewski, Kühlhaus Berlin (THE FAIREST 02, Berlin Art Week, 2023), Galerie Daniel Marzona (2023), Künstlerhaus Bethanien (2019), and after the butcher (2019), as well as international venues such as Tufenkian Fine Arts, Glendale (USA), and Mint & Lime, Valencia (USA). She was a fellow of the Cusanuswerk (2018–2023) and has been nominated for the UdK Art Award (2024), the Elsa Neumann Scholarship (2023), and the Karl Hofer Grant (2023). Gap was also part of the research-based exhibition project Welt ohne Menschen (2019), funded by the KKWV and presented at Kunsthalle am Hamburger Platz, Berlin.
