POSTS STORIES REELS

Cannot be more excited: I’m thrilled to be taking part in the @baseballhall’s Author Series this summer. Cooperstown and the Hall of Fame is one of the great meccas for baseball in the world and the fact that I’ll get to talk about my book in a space that is so important to so many people is incredible. (When my parents first brought me in 1997, I spent the whole day in the museum and then came back the next morning for more.) I may never have a plaque on the wall for my baseball-playing ability but I’ll eagerly take this instead.

I’ll be talking about WE SACRIFICE EVERYTHING TO BASEBALL at the Baseball Discovery Zone at 1 pm on June 6 and you can get in with your admission to the museum. Hope to see you there. (Don’t forget there’s a whole @wbcbaseball display!) Link for more info in bio — where you’ll see friends like @nathaliealonsobooks and @hiromitsubb taking part later this summer, too! by @michaelsclair

COVER REVEAL! I am so insanely excited to share that WE SACRIFICE EVERYTHING TO BASEBALL, about the remarkable run @baseballczech made in the @wbcbaseball, is out on April 1. Even better, you can preorder it now. I’ve heard that the preorder makes an incredible Xmas gift. And best of all, if you order through @univnebpress with the code 6HLW25 you can get 50% off all books through the rest of the year.

It has been my distinct pleasure to cover the Czech team and its incredible players since the World Baseball Classic Qualifiers in 2022, and can’t wait for you to get to read the book this spring. Only a few months to go!

I’ll drop book description in the comments. by @michaelsclair

It’s here! The premier episode of MLBTV’s INSIDE STITCH has debuted! It is available on the app for subscribers and will premiere(!!!) on @mlbnetwork this Sunday at 11 a.m.

For this episode’s GENUINE ARTICLE, I talked about my favorite thing in baseball: stirrup socks. Naturally, I had to wear my @baseballczech cap, too.

Head to MLBTV to watch or click the link in bio.

While cleaning out an old laptop, I found the table names for @marissamoogs and my wedding. Each table was named for a baseball player and came with a little factoid. For Wily Mo Pena — where all of my then Cut4-colleagues sat — he got a full essay.

Now to be preserved on the internet for eternity. by @michaelsclair

Have some incredible news: here is the cover for the Taiwanese edition of WE SACRIFICE EVERYTHING TO BASEBALL from @infortresspublishing. The book has been translated into Traditional Chinese and should be on sale in Taiwan soon 🔜 right around the time that @baseballczechia is playing @ctba_baseballofficial.

While the English title is still on the cover, it will be known as A DREAM WORTH GIVING EVERYTHING FOR in Taiwan. Even better, it comes with a foreword written by Baseball Czechia manager Pavel Chadim. I’ll drop the back cover translation in the comments.

Hiromi Itoh comes from a family of fishermen, and his name even means “Great Sea.” When out on the mound, he is alone against the batter, much the way he is alone out on the water when fishing. Now he’s going to bring that same attitude to the Majors, as the Fighters have posted the Hokkaido native.

I spoke to him at the World Baseball Classic earlier this year, so thought I’d bring this post back around for those who may have missed it. Will Itoh follow in his hero Yu Darvish’s cleats?

Korean slugger and WBC veteran Si Hwan Roh was posted for Major League teams on Sunday, with clubs having a chance to bid on him until Dec. 1. With the power-hitting third baseman on the move, I talked to an MLB scout in the Pacific Rim for his thoughts on Roh, and KBO players like Been Gwak and Do Yeong Kim who may be on the move in the future.

Link in bio for full piece with all the players.

It’s a new issue of INTERNATIONAL BEAT! This time around, I spoke with a Pacific Rim scout about four NPB stars that could be MLB-bound this winter (the upshot: Teruaki Sato is going to get a LOT of attention).

Then, I chatted with @greekbaseball and @kinheim_haarlem pitcher @noah_zavolas about what it’s like to live and play ball in Europe after a Minor League career.

Plus, updates from Premier12 and around the baseball world. Sign up for future editions and find link to this one in bio.

🚨 On the latest episode of Chatter Up, Shane talks to MLB.com writer Michael Clair about his journey from baseball blogger to covering the global game and his book, “We Sacrifice Everything to Baseball”, on the Czech Republic’s Cinderella World Baseball Classic team.

Spain and Italy are headed to the premier12! A sign of baseball’s continued growth through Europe, Spain knocked off Germany and Italy to win the qualifier they hosted in Barcelona. Italy then defeated Germany, 5-0, earlier this morning.

Full story on dotcom in the bio. Great Britain, Czechia, Nicaragua, and China will play in the final qualifier next month.

Firefighters. Teachers. A neurologist as manager. With their home-grown roster, the Czech national team beat Spain to punch their ticket to their first ever @wbcbaseball in 2023.

Now it’s your chance to read how it all went down - with this signed copy for the Bridges of Baseball community by @mlb’s @MichaelClair, author of “We Sacrifice Everything to Baseball.”
