Silvie can’t wait for Thanksgiving! While her friends dream of turkey and stuffing, Silvie’s family celebrates a little differently with boreg and pasteis de nata. Silvie begins to worry: with so many languages, cultures, and traditions at her table, how will everyone understand each other? Join Silvie on this Thanksgiving adventure!

The Boreg Meets the Bird is a children’s book by Sofia Viana Ogulluk, published in December 2025, that celebrates cultural diversity, family traditions, and Thanksgiving.

MOM IS A HOUSE! 🏠
Mom Is a hug, mom is a house, mom is everywhere, mom is MINE!

A sneak peek to the custom watercolour brushes I created for Procreate, which will be available for everyone soon.

It’s so interesting to see how much I’ve grown as an artist over the year. The way I fell in love with textures, mixed media, the way my perception on colour changed. Letting go of perfection led me to the most interesting paths, and allowed me to focus on a style I can finally call my own.

What is your favourite way to draw?

Meet Cone and Skate! A fun and spirited story written by author @amy_rose_nicolai and illustrated by me (yay!) 🥳

According to theprairiesbookreviews: Nicolai’s latest is a brisk, good-humored picture book that examines momentum, fear, and self-discovery through an unlikely pairing. Cone, a traffic cone content with routine, spends her days observing the familiar rhythms of the street. However, her sense of control is disrupted when Skate—a skateboard with “a need for speed”—collides with her, sending Cone rolling headlong into motion.

What follows is a rapid series of strange encounters as Cone hangs on, alarmed and vocal—“GET ME OFF THIS THING!”—while Skate presses ahead with easy confidence.

More snippets coming soon! Don’t miss out on this wonderful, clever book!

Working on your style as an artist is good. Learning from other artists and wanting to evolve is good. But forcing yourself to change your artistic direction or trying too hard to express yourself through a different style may do more harm than good.

Scrolling online exposes us to thousands of different art styles every day. Sometimes that can be a source of inspiration, but other times it can cause anxiety. Often I’ve wondered if my style is outdated, if I should practice something entirely different, rebrand myself, etc. But the truth is that I love my style and I find joy through it. I feel connected to every artwork I make when I let myself draw in the way I know and love! And all the authors who trust me with their stories love it too. So why am I pressuring myself to change?

Lesson learned:

You can’t draw like everyone else, but you can draw like you. And nobody else can!

Do what you love!!

This is it. This is the point. This is why I illustrate books and why I’ve fallen in love with the world of children’s books. Seeing children smile thanks to the books I’ve illustrated, seeing them excited and happy and eager to absorb the stories written for them is magic.

Yes, this is my job. But it’s more than that. It’s also a way to connect with my inner child. It’s the irreplaceable feeling of contributing to children’s happiness.
