This @porsche 356 is heading to the world’s most prestigious air-cooled Porsche car show @luftgekuhlt in Los Angeles. When the owners @midtownautohaus asked me to take some pics…I was beyond honored! Here’s a few samples. This car is one of a kind…meticulously handcrafted by @werks_11 and beyond stunning in every way. by @midtownautohaus

Luftgekuhlt 11 at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham, NC was another fantastic event. It was the perfect spot to debut our French ROW Speed Yellow 993 Turbo 4.0 build by @autometricsmotorsports . We have been fortunate enough to work with a few top notch shops over the years such as Werks 11 and Sonderwerks. Autometrics definitely falls into that category as well. Enough can’t be said about Gordon, Cory, Eric, Ben and the rest of the Autometrics team. Truly superb work and customer service. The car left Luft 11 and went straight to “Air Cooled Smokies” to rip around the Smoky Mountains with the GT Smokies crew. What a way to break the car in!

Also, big thanks to all of the other people and vendors who helped in some form or fashion on this one as well as the incredible photos by @itsjaypack

Fourth “European Delivery” in the books! Two modern Porsche trips + two air-cooled trips. This one through the Priorat region of Spain in a 1988 Turquoise or “Turkis” Carrera was the best thus far. Gotta say...the air-cooled trips have unexpectedly won out!

The small lightweight air-cooled cars are so usable & fun on the narrow, twisty European roads compared to the newer, bigger, & more powerful cars, especially when factoring in lower European speed limits. The autobahn (a bit of a novelty) as well as Europe’s numerous historic racetracks are the notable exceptions. A G-body 911 is roughly 700 lbs lighter, a foot shorter, & over half a foot narrower compared to a new GT3 which really allows you to play & move the car around on small European backroads. The extra 300 hp & extra grip of the GT3 is just not necessary or even missed on these roads.

Then comes the logistics & politics of doing ED in a vintage car vs new car. Being able to pick an old car up & drop it off anywhere/anytime in Europe without the more stringent requirements from the manufacturer makes the planning & flexibility really nice & opens up travel options. Also, not having to deal with the current allocation politics/shenanigans surrounding ADM & ED availability is quite refreshing. The current $6k cost for the privilege of doing factory ED can go a long way into the shipping/importing costs of getting a vintage car back to the states.

The secret sauce for these air-cooled ED experiences has been making connections with the right people along the way to help find & sort the right car as well as assist with the logistics. Making those friendships has been just as fun & rewarding as driving the cars. We have been blown away by the people we have met who are willing to help curate these types of experiences. In regards to this Spain trip, we cannot thank @33bosshog , @stuttg.art_ , @typ901bcn , @gauvinpictures & @therollingmuseum enough for their expertise, recommendations, connections, & hospitality which made this such a special trip. We can’t wait to be back across the pond & driving Turkis in the Alps next year! by @midtownautohaus

Wonderful evening at @porschebarcelona celebrating @therollingmuseum which provides curated touring experiences through Spain in their collection of restored vintage Porsches. Attendees get to spend time driving each model while exploring the Spanish countryside. Luxury accommodations and curated dining experiences are all handled by their team as well. Truly an experience of a lifetime! by @midtownautohaus

Exploring Catalonia and Priorat in the ‘88 Turkis 911. Some of the best driving roads we have encountered…essentially empty and perfect for a G body. Pretty much like driving autocross through endless vineyards with amazing food and wine at the finish line.
