Challenge Peguera Mallorca happened. Then spent a few days in bed, sick as hell. But the fever finally broke, so I’m back in my happy place; on bike with camera. Challenge Forte Village on Sunday and the course is beginning to take shape as a classic Italian pasta party 🍝 thankfully my appetite is starting to come back.

YouTube videos are rolling out with fury so make sure to subscribe to @freestyletri on YouTube for all the highs and lows of our island-hopping, resort-crashing, European vacation 👫 by @miguelmattox

Flew the other way across the world this October and spent the week in Gran Canaria at @anfisportsacademy — a different Big Island than the majority of the triathlon world for this time of year, but WOW this island is one of a kind. Spending a week at the Anfi Sports Academy was an absolute treat 😍 what a perfect training ground (and relaxation location 🥹) leading into some of our final races of the season at @chmallorca and @challengefortevillagesardinia : a 25m pool right outside our door; stunning riding; protected and beautiful open water swimming. What more can you ask for?? We’ll be back soon, we know it by @miguelmattox

10 days at the @anfisportsacademy in Gran Canaria to get in the last bit of prep for Challenge Mallorca 🇪🇸 and Challenge Forte Village 🇮🇹

WOW what a trip and wayyyy too short. But we’ll be back with more gear, more friends, and more rear bike wheels @jennahaufler … 3 @freestyletri YouTube videos 🎥 coming soon!

Kicking off a week of race prep and there is not a single better place to swim open water than here; the @anfisportsacademy in Gran Canaria. 10/10 will be back here soon ✌️ by @miguelmattox

If you feel targeted by this post, call a friend for help. If you know someone in need of these reminders, send it to them asap (I already sent it to myself twice).

I think I figured something out. Up until a few weeks ago, I could never really train consistently over 26 hours per week. I always seemed to hit a wall of fatigue, or just start to feel unmotivated (not uncommon). Did I crack the code? Maybe. 6 weeks of really quality training. Nothing special. No hero workouts. Just showing up excited to work every day. And here’s half the battle: carbs during training. @precisionfandh … what would I do without you? @coach_goeringer and you 😘 by @miguelmattox

Life’s been good lately. 6 straight weeks of training at the highest sustainable volume of my life (28-30 hrs/wk). No Nice. No Kona. Instead, Jenna and I are preparing to embark on a 2-week training trip at the Anfi Sports Academy in Gran Canaria, followed by Challenge Mallorca and Challenge Forte Village in Sardinia.

Before this block, I felt completely out of it. No energy. Poor mood. Injured but fighting through it. Just a bit frustrated but getting by on pure grit. But I took a breath and figured things out. Feeling better thanks to a few lifestyle changes, good coaching from @working.triathlete and, above all, support from my family. Today I’m ambitious and grateful for the things my body is allowing me to do while remaining cautious; ready to put the shovel down if I need to 🪏☠️ by @miguelmattox

Focaccia Friday‼️ Sorry I’m a day late to post, but Jenna has demanded it becomes a thing so this is to commemorate the first ever #focacciafriday

Arguably the best thing about Focaccia Friday is the turkey sandwiches after a long ride on Saturday 👌 by @miguelmattox

Legitimately think some witchcraft and/or teleportation and/or hypnosis occurs when you start climbing up a big mountain. Anyone else experience the same? Also check out our latest YT video for the full edit and story of altitude training camp out of a van. (Link in bio)

Good recovery starts before the session begins. Dialed nutrition right in your pocket to maximize adaptations as soon as the workout is complete.

Let me start by saying: I love my job. 10 days in a van. In the mountains. Mostly alone. Help from friends. A little bit of training. A lot of cameras and camp cooking. I made 2 YouTube videos on the experience. Part I is out now and it’s fun. Part II will be out soon. I had to break them up somehow so there not much training in the first video (if you don’t count climbing a 14,000ft peak as training), but lots of “what-it’s-like-living-in-a-van” content. Link in bio. Like. Comment. Subscribe. Thank you 🙏

And thank you to @wayfarervans for making the trip possible 🤝😎 by @miguelmattox

Our buddy @cnsvisuals came to stay with us for a couple days and somehow dragged Miguel off the road and onto dirt. He was reluctant but was guaranteed sick content so there ya have it. by @miguelmattox
