This is a @maiyasykes appreciation post. Watch til the end. She’s sang with the greats: Dolly Parton, Stevie Wonder, Macy Gray and so on. She studied with Nina Simone. She graduated from Yale. She’s the first call when someone needs a singer. Here she is transcending us to another dimension singing a Bowie deep cut “Disco King” with @mikegarson The musicians behind the famous musicians deserve their flowers too. We salute you, Queen Maiyah. 🌹 #davidbowie #bowie by @mikegarson

Do you know Mike Garson? 🎹

He’s Bowie’s longest band member & one of rocks most iconic piano-men.

I’ve just arrived in Los Angeles & am SO grateful i was told he is playing a weekend residency at The Sun Rose on the 23rd & 24th. It felt like the right time to pay tribute on this page.

A living legend that keeps Bowie’s legacy alive… in a world of cash-ins, supporting people like Garson feels so important. I can’t wait to watch him live.

Let me know if any of you are heading that way & what you’re favourite Garson-Bowie collab is… thank you! 🎹

$I’m heartbroken to hear of the passing of Sass Jordan. Sass and I had the joy of working together on our A Bowie Celebration tours. She was an extraordinary singer, but what I remember just as much was the person behind that unmistakable voice. She had a great heart, a wonderful spirit, an incredible feel for the music, and a wicked sense of humor. She was an absolute joy to work with, both onstage and off. When Sass joined us, she said that performing Bowie’s music every night felt like “playing a love letter to his memory.” \It was an honor to share those nights and that music with her. My deepest condolences to her family, friends, fellow musicians, and everyone who loved her. Sass was one of a kind, and she will be deeply missed. Photo by Andrew Twambley by @mikegarson$
