I may regret this, but I’ve been sitting on the sidelines watching the conversations between Black women vs. Hairstylists over the last few years. 🤦🏽‍♀️ 😢 Until now. The conversations about Black women choosing Ulta should have independent stylists paying attention. As a former salon and spa owner, educator, and Ulta Salon Market Trainer, I have a perspective I want to share. I hear clients asking for care, consistency, clear pricing, and respect for their time. And I know independent stylists who care deeply about delivering those things while building a profitable business. There’s something here we need to talk about—and an opportunity to earn clients’ trust. A beautiful hairstyle shouldn’t be the only good part of a salon visit. 👀 When clients talk about booking headaches, unclear prices, long waits, feeling unwelcome, or unbelievably, being stood up by their Stylists, they’re telling us what matters to them. And it’s time for us to listen. And yes—you can do beautiful work, use great products, and still have parts of your client experience that need attention. In my 30 plus years in and around the salon industry, I’ve seen how much the experience surrounding the service matters. I said this years ago to my team, ‘The client can do her own hair. We have to give her a good reason to come in.’ You deserve prices that support a profitable business. Your clients deserve an experience that makes them feel good about paying those prices. Both can be true. Swipe through for five things worth looking at in your own business. Want help connecting your numbers, your prices, and your client experience? I’m offering a FREE Pricing Check-Up this week through the link in my bio. Can independent Stylists regain the trust of clients? Which slide stands out to you the most? Price, booking, training, or how clients are treated? Let’s talk. 👇🏽 #salonmarketing #salonpricing #saloncoaching #ultasalon #blackhairstylist by @mikiwright

Be honest. Are you an A or a B? 😂 One of the biggest challenges I hear from business owners isn’t that their customers aren’t happy. It’s that they get busy and forget to ask for the review! And those are missed opportunities to build the online reputation they’ve already earned through great service. That’s why I created my simple Google Review System—to make asking easier, right in the moment. Intro pricing only $99/month, including your tap-and-scan review tool and personal onboarding. Want the details? DM me REVIEWS. And tell me below…A or B? 😊 #googlebusinessprofile #marketingtip #smallbusinesssuccess #localbusiness #mikiwright by @mikiwright
How can you have happy customers who share your business and STILL be missing opportunities for Google reviews, and the chance to attract new clients? I hear this from business owners all the time: “My customer was so happy. They told me how much they loved everything…and I meant to ask them for a review. Then I got busy and forgot.” Sound familiar? 😊 That’s why I’ve simplified the way I’m helping local businesses with their Google reviews. You don’t need another complicated marketing strategy. You need a simple system that makes it easier to ask while the happy-customer moment is happening. My new Google Review System helps you do just that. For $99/month, you’ll get: ✓ Your Tap + Scan Review Tool ✓ A personal 15–30 minute setup session with me ✓ Access to my GET FOUND Framework™ ✓ Ongoing tips to help you stay consistent You already have happy customers. Let’s make it easier for them to tell Google. 📩 Message me the word REVIEWS and I’ll send you the details. #raleighbusiness #GoogleBusinessProfile #raleighnetworking #LocalBusinessMarketing #SmallBusinessMarketing by @mikiwright
How can you have 32 five-star Google reviews…and still be almost invisible? That’s exactly what we discovered with one of my clients. When we searched her name, she was easy to find. But when we searched the way a potential new client would — her service + her location — it was a completely different story. Google was showing businesses 25–45 minutes away while her business was barely showing up. And that’s the difference between being visible to people who already know you and being found by the people who are actually looking for what you do. Right now, I’m looking to work with 5 established business owners who are great at what they do, already have happy clients, but aren’t sure whether their Google presence reflects the reputation they’ve built. I’m offering a FREE Google Visibility Check-up to help you see how your business is actually showing up. If that sounds like you, message me or comment VISIBLE and I’ll send you the information. #saloncoaching #medsparaleigh #trichologist #medicaloffices #homeservicebusiness by @mikiwright

Thanks @aziabharris for our fabulous location, @aziabsbeautystudio, and that delicious hibiscus tea!! Kristina @virtuousdelightsnc for the fabulous food. BTW, that honeybun cake is next level!! 😋 And to our special guest Sedara @refreshedbeautybar for our amazing skin care experience! 🧖🏽‍♀️ A time was had! #femalebusinessowners #raleighnetworking #trianglebusiness #northraleighnc by @mikiwright
Are you making one of these 5 Google Business Profile mistakes? 👀 🤔 Let’s count them down... 5 — You only Google your business by name.
That’s great if people already know you. But can someone who doesn’t know your name find you when searching for what you do? 4 — You set up your profile...and forgot about it.
Your business changes. Your Google presence should reflect the business you have TODAY. 3 — You’re focused on your star rating, but not RECENT reviews.
A great rating matters, but potential customers also want to know what people are saying about you now. 2 — Your profile doesn’t clearly communicate what you do.
Your categories, services and information determine if Google will even show you to prospective clients who are searching for what you do, and whether they’ll choose you. And what’s the biggest mistake? 1 — You’re treating Google like it’s separate from your marketing. Someone may hear about you through a referral, meet you networking, see your Facebook post or even see one of your ads... and then Google you before they call. Your Google Business Profile isn’t just another listing. It’s part of your marketing. Try this: Search your primary service + your city or neighborhood. Don’t use your business name. 👉 Do you show up? And if you do... Would you choose you? Now tell me below: Which one got you—5, 4, 3, 2 or 1? 😬 #GetVisibleWeekly #GoogleBusinessProfile #LocalBusinessMarketing #SmallBusinessMarketing #femalebusinessowners by @mikiwright
I don’t know what it is, but when I hear about a restaurant, I want to see photos of the food. The professional ones, and the ones from the restaurant guests’ cell phones, of their plate when it came out. I want to see the full menu, and place my order in my head long before I step through the door. Maybe it’s because I’ve always been that person who looks at what others have ordered when I’m in the restaurant and whispers to the waiter or waitress, ‘What is that dish?’ Or ‘I’ll have one of those!’ Have you ever done that?? Or is it just me? 😬🤭 I think we all Google businesses before we buy, right? The funny thing is, your customers do exactly the same thing. What's the first thing you look at—reviews, photos, website, or something else? by @mikiwright
