Last Saturday, our first public building in Italy—the Noli Marenzi secondary School in Telgate—officially opened. Seeing students, parents and professors bringing the new square to life and discovering the interior spaces was our greatest reward and the perfect way to conclude this project. Official photos coming soon! by @millestudiomille
studiomille office, Milan 2025. Our office in Milan is a flexible, multifunctional laboratory for design and experimentation. Defined by a system of ephemeral textile partitions, it opens up to the city for events and collaborations. It’s designed to adapt to the changing landscape of our profession. We have been testing our space for a year now, and so far, we love it. Photos 1, 2, 4 by @matteo.bellomo by @millestudiomille

Last chance to see the retrospective ALPHABET | Edward Batber & Jay Osgerby @triennalemilano Last day is September 6th. Exhibition curated by @mrsammicheli Exhibition design by @millestudiomille by @millestudiomille
Edward Barber | Jay Osgerby. Alphabet, Milan 2026 We designed the installation for the exhibition Alphabet at @triennalemilano The show presents the first retrospective dedicated to the London-based design studio @barberosgerby , curated by @mrsammicheli The exhibition project establishes a dialogue with the designers’ visual language through the modulation of natural light and the use of simple, recurring materials. The structure defining the space, the elements tensioning the semi-transparent fabric curtains, and the frames surrounding the sketches are made of natural aluminium extrusions — a material that recalls the strong connection between the two designers and industrial production. The platforms are developed from a modular base element with different heights, conceived as the smallest unit of temporal measurement, while a light grey finish unifies their overall appearance. The show presents the first retrospective dedicated to the London-based design studio @barberosgerby , curated by @mrsammicheli . Every Barber Osgerby project begins by inhabiting the space of a sheet of tracing paper: a space where the sketch is instinctive, yet the language is already clear. The entire exhibition itinerary is organised around a two-dimensional device composed of adjoining strips of translucent fabric, like the surface on which the two designers layer their marks. This scrim is a membrane that connects the different dimensions of the experience of design, revealing the transition from idea to material form. In the main gallery, a series of plinths provides a clear backdrop for the projects by Barber and Osgerby, benefiting from the natural light coming through the large windows overlooking Parco Sempione. It was a pleasure working with the Triennale team and Barber Osgerby Studio team. @__balay , Milan, 2025 Outside, two monochrome curtains mark the exterior — soft, sculptural forms within the city’s visual noise. By night, they become glowing lanterns, lit from the bar’s warm interior. Like designing a home, the project focused on a few key elements that define the atmosphere of Balay. A second large curtain blurs the threshold between inside and out, turning the bar into an open living room for the neighborhood. The bathroom plays with atmosphere: a projection on the ceiling transforms the space into a moment that’s intimate, unexpected, and slightly surreal. @__balay , Milan, 2025 Balay is a wine bar and evening spot serving natural wines in a space that feels both contemporary and familiar. Imagined as a place that could evoke the warmth of home, Balay reflects @_eathaaat personal story — shaped by memory, identity, and Filipino heritage. Much of the existing interior — the original tiled floor, distressed walls — has been preserved, becoming a textured backdrop for new interventions. Materials draw from the richness of traditional interiors — dark wood, warm textiles — and from the layered, urban environment of Manila, evoked through metal details and raw finishes. A conceptual horizontal split defines two visual zones, generating a system of interlocking elements that shape the spatial rhythm and atmosphere. @__balay , Milan, 2025 The large, multifunctional counter adapts throughout the evening — becoming a shared dining surface, a bar, or a platform for DJ sets and installations. Above it hangs a custom pendant light, inspired by the geometric patterns of traditional capiz shell windows. Made from reclaimed lighting optics and framed in dark wood, it feels both atmospheric and rooted in memory. Opposite the bar, narrow walnut shelves are mounted on a metal track system, easy to reposition or remove. Visible from the street front, plasterboard shelves expose their inner structure — tipically concealed — revealed here through directed light.
