👀 Whatever you do, don’t wander into the dark…

Meet the Grue, one of the most famous monsters from Zork, an early computer game on display at Mimms Museum. The Grue lurks in the darkness, waiting for anyone foolish enough to explore without a light source 😈

This is your Halloween reminder: sometimes the scariest thing in tech is what you can’t see.

Would you survive the darkness of Zork? 🎃 by @mimms_museum

Who says your Halloween costume can’t be inspired by technology? 🎃

When @roboemma and her friend joined us for an exclusive preview of iNSPIRE earlier this year, they showed up in the cutest handmade costumes inspired by Apple’s colorful G3 era, including the iBook G3 they’re holding 💻✨

From the translucent, colorful designs of the iBook G3 to the iconic iMac G3, Apple brought a playful approach to technology that made these computers instantly recognizable.

Consider this your sign to take some fashion inspiration from tech history. by @mimms_museum

🎧 How many of these iPods did you own?

From the original iPod that put 1,000 songs in your pocket to the colorful nano, tiny shuffle and touchscreen iPod touch, the iPod went through quite the evolution.

For iPod Day, we’re taking a look at the evolution of one of Apple’s most iconic products, all in one wall at "iNSPIRE: 50 Years of Innovation from Apple."

Which one was your favorite?✨ by @mimms_museum

35 years ago, the PowerBook made its debut, giving us a glimpse of what portable computing could look like 💻

The trackball. The built-in keyboard. The very ’90s design. Fast-forward 35 years and… let’s just say laptops have come a long way.

Would you recognize a 1991 laptop if you saw one? by @mimms_museum

Some artifacts arrive in boxes. This one drove in 🚗⚡

Flashback to the day our DeLorean arrived at Mimms Museum, with Karin behind the wheel and one very memorable drive through the museum doors.

In honor of Back to the Future Day, we’re going back to the day this piece of pop culture history became part of the collection. by @mimms_museum

📚 Report card day is here... and we'd say the museum is passing with flying colors. 😉

🍎 What’s inside a tech history time capsule?

For Steve Jobs Day, Lonnie is opening up original Apple II schematics that were once displayed at his Apple pop-up in 2013. These documents date back to September and October 1977, and some even have handwritten changes marked with initials and dates.

Nearly 50 years later, we’re getting a closer look at the details behind one of Apple’s earliest computers.

💻 Long before modern computers existed, Ada Lovelace was imagining what machines could do.

Today, we're celebrating her contributions to the history of computing and the ideas that helped shape the technology we know today.

What do you think Ada would make of today's technology? by @mimms_museum

Meet Becah 👋

We’re kicking off a new series where our staff share some of their favorite artifacts at Mimms Museum—and her pick is the Tempest 🎮

Released in 1980, Tempest put players in a geometric tunnel, using a rotary knob (not a joystick!) to move their spaceship around the edge while battling enemies.

But what makes it especially cool? Its glowing, wireframe look was created using Atari’s vector display technology, bringing together computer programming, mathematics, game design and art in one very ’80s package.

And for a limited time, you can see it for yourself in the Rotunda👀

Stay tuned for more staff favorites! by @mimms_museum
