The Labyrinth 2026
October 10-12
Hodaigi Camp Site, Gunma
POSTS STORIES REELS
Last week we said goodbye to three magical days. Now it is time to say thank you. The Labyrinth captains work harder than you can imagine to make the event happen. Kenji, Oniki, Yuri, Koto, Matsunami, and Feroshi met every week for six months to plan the gate system, and Koto also runs the delicious market that everyone loves. Reo manages the team that takes care of the floor and campground to ensure our home stays clean; Mina runs the amazing bar team; Manami runs artist care and the hard-working drivers; and Feroshi does everything from bus tours and shuttle buses to parking and gate and autocamping–he is Labyrinth’s true star. Many volunteers work with big smiles for these teams–thank you for your hard work! We hope you can join us again next year:) The stage, tipi, tents, lighting, deco, and sound teams all delivered masterful performances, and the artists put on a true masterclass. We have never had such a perfect three-day story from the first set to the last. There are no fairy tales without fairies fluttering their wings; there are no myths without heroes on a journey. Thank you to all the dancing fairies and travelling heroes who gathered those three days. You put on a beautiful show. by @mindgames.labyrinth

— A few notes before you arrive: * NO VIDEO OF THE STAGE. NO PHONES UP IN THE AIR. Holding a bright phone up in the air to take video is obnoxious and disrespectful towards the event and everyone around you, especially at night. Every person on the dancefloor behind you is forced to look at your device, but nobody wants to look at your phone. We have zero patience for this kind of space and light pollution and will ask you to stop immediately. * Everyone coming by car needs to buy a parking ticket at Zaiko. We don’t accept cash on the day for parking tickets. * All check-ins take place at the ski resort parking lot. When setting your destination in your car navigation system, select “Gunma Minakami Hodaigi Ski Resort.” Do not attempt to drive into the campground directly. If you are at the autocamp site or the on-site parking lot, you cannot follow the shuttle bus’s designated route and will need to take the detour. * The main bar accepts digital payments but bring cash for the food market. * The weather is absolutely brilliant sun, but such clear skies during the day can lead to cold nights. Be prepared with warm clothes (fleece, jacket, etc). * Please do not leave trash or camping chairs on the floor at night. Clean up your space so we can begin the next day with a clean space. We look forward to seeing all of you again. Our weekend together has arrived and the gods appear to be smiling. by @mindgames.labyrinth

— Every year the number of camping chairs on the dance floor has increased, and this has increasingly become a problem. Last year the dance floor became split between front and back because so many chairs were left unattended. At night it became difficult to navigate the floor without stumbling over camping chairs or cots. Many people bring chairs during the day and then leave them there for the entire event, so large parts of the floor become unusable. We have decided to address this problem this year. This year, there’s a designated “Chair Area” on the right side of the floor as you face the stage. The area will be marked by flags. If you use a chair, please place it inside this area. Chairs left elsewhere on the dancefloor need to be moved by you, or staff will move them into this area. We consider the dancefloor a place for dancing, not for storing your belongings. Please help us keep enough space so everyone can dance comfortably. And please let your friends know about this rule. If you do bring chairs to the floor, please bring your things back to your camping spot or hotel at night. We clean the floor at night, so you cannot leave stuff on the floor overnight. (We will not be able to respond to complaints received later about items left unattended on the floor overnight.) We want the floor to feel as open and clean as possible for the music. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. by @mindgames.labyrinth
Peter Van Hoesen, recorded live at The Labyrinth, Saturday October 11th, 2025. — At last year’s Labyrinth, Peter Van Hoesen got a chance to display yet another of his many faces with an experimental drum and bass set. — Camping at Hodaigi Campground is one of the Labyrinth’s highlights. When we moved from Naeba after a ten-year run, the main motivation was to host the event at a campground with full facilities. 1000 meters up in Minakami, in a forest of birch and larch trees, with Mt. Hotaka framed against the sky, Hodaigi is a jewel in the world of Japanese campgrounds. Facilities include coin showers running 24 hours (¥200 / 3 min), flush toilets across many buildings, covered BBQ areas for cooking, and shaded camping space in the forest. Shirakaba House, the management center, has a small store for firewood, equipment, and many basics. And of course the main highlight is its natural beauty. If you camp, you don’t need to worry about catching the shuttle bus. Just please come prepared for the cold at night with layers: inner layer, fleece and a jacket. Proper rain gear with an extra pair of shoes are also required. It’s standard for festivals now to charge a separate camping ticket, but we see camping as a fundamental part of the experience, so three nights of camping is included with tickets. Camp one more night after the music finishes to let the whole experience seep down into your roots. There’s no rush. One of my favorite parts of the event is stumbling around the campground well after the music is done, hearing laughter echo through the forest mixed with nature sounds. To me, it sounds like home. by @mindgames.labyrinth
