First Edition of the 5-a-Side Wall Minifootball Club World Championship to Be Held

Three Countries in the Running to Host the Tournament

Karim Moghaddam, President of the Minifootball Five International Federation (MFIF), has announced that the inaugural edition of the 5-a-side Wall Minifootball Club World Championship for Men will be held this year.

Moghaddam said: “At present, three countries have been shortlisted as candidates to host the inaugural edition of this competition. Following inspections of the facilities and infrastructure in the candidate countries, the host city will be selected and officially announced.”

The President of the Minifootball Five International Federation added: “MFIF is the only minifootball federation in the world that organizes official 5-a-side competitions using the side walls of the playing field. To date, nearly 90 countries have joined the federation or are currently in the process of becoming members of MFIF.”

Regarding the tournament format and participation of teams, he stated: “The amount of the cash prize in US dollars, the number of qualification slots allocated to each continent, the total number of participating teams, and the process for selecting and nominating clubs will be announced by MFIF in the near future.”

5-a-Side Wall Minifootball: A Different and Fast-Paced Format

In 5-a-side Wall Minifootball, players can use the walls installed along the sides of the playing field to keep the ball in play and maintain the flow of the match. The walls are one metre high.

Because the side walls are part of the playing area, there are no throw-ins or corner kicks, allowing the game to continue without frequent stoppages and contributing to a faster and more dynamic style of play.
