You don't have to figure it all out alone.💜

Are you an active, inactive, or unsure JW woman?

Maybe your congregation doesn't feel safe anymore. Is it abusive?

How is your nervous system responding? Are you jumpy?

Maybe you're questioning things you were once certain about like how men can wear beards or how we can now accept blood transfusions.

What about the higher education announcement? Did you walk away from scholarships and opportunities when you were in high school so now you feel betrayed?

If you are inactive, how long has it been? Are you confused? What caused you to become inactive?

It's okay if you are feeling upset or confused.

It's okay to feel what you feel.

Some Kingdom Halls are Healthy. Some are NOT!

Think about joining the support group (JW) Sisters Living with Religious Trauma (Syndrome) on Facebook we meet virtually on Sundays at noon Est.

*Mental Health Professionals- I provide professional consults. I understand that many therapists are struggling to find resources to support their JW clients. Being culturally competent and culturally aware is key to their recovery. I am a religious abuse recovery coach, and I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology of Human Relations from Indiana Wesleyan University. I myself have religious trauma syndrome, and I am a PIMO (physically in, mentally out). You can find more about my work by visiting my column in the Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper entitled, ‘Ending Religious Abuse.’ I’m happy to answer your professional questions.

Moms, let me ask you a question. If what you and your children need to be well does not exist, LITERALLY, how hard would you work to create that thing that’s missing?

This is very important work.

This is something that can transform not only my life and my children’s but so many other women and children too.

The impact is HUGE!

Have you read my series Ending Religious Abuse online or in print? Have you heard about my documentary project?

It does not matter what religion you belong to, we can chat 1:1. Ladies, let’s do the work, let’s heal!

Healthy Religion. Not No Religion.

Hey, if you are an inactive, active, or unsure JW female, feel free to join the support group (JW) Sisters Living with Religious Trauma (Syndrome) ®️ We meet on Sundays virtually at noon, and the e/o Book of the Month is one of the features of the group.

*P.S. Sis, I understand. Sometimes healing means walking away because the damage is so psychologically severe. So, what’s your plan? What’s next for you? Too many of us ‘wild out’ without support.

The Faith & OCD Conference is Coming October 29!!!!🎉🎉🎉

Have you heard of Scrupulosity????

"With scrupulosity, someone might constantly worry that something they thought, said, or did could be a sin or a moral mistake. Instead of drawing people closer to the Divine, scrupulosity often pulls them into fear, guilt, shame, disgust, or a constant sense of urgency. Practices that are meant to be meaningful and life-giving can start to feel exhausting and overwhelming. It can feel almost like OCD has taken over the space where faith once lived." - Dr. Katie O'Dunne, conference founder

OCD can impact the lives of JWs too. We are not exempt.

*Although this conference is deemed interfaith. This is a mental health conference. This does not mean that you are sinning or practicing interfaith by attending. I personally believe that sometimes we need to see how events are truly defined instead of ignoring information out of fear or guilt. If one session makes you feel uncomfortable, you can try another session instead.

Are you an inactive, active, removed, ex-JW, or other interested person? Just DM me with any question you have and I'll try my best to get you the answer.

Continuing the discussion today at noon Est!

Recovering from JW Emotionally Immature Parents

It’s unintentional abuse.
(*for some of us)

It’s just a fact.

However, unintentional abuse is still abuse. It still hurts. It is still not okay. It still has to be faced and processed safely.

Lindsay C. Gibson, PsyD, talks about this in her book Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents. She mentions that sometimes we have really nice toxic parents. We still must protect ourselves and determine if a relationship is or is NOT possible.

For the remainder of the year, along with other discussions and workshops, we will be exploring the following:

Recovering from JW Emotionally Immature Parents

*This looks different for us. Though many in the religious abuse recovery spaces have EI parents (many don’t also), their cultural experience with religion looks different than ours. It’s like we have to translate the information so that it fits our lived experience. So, let's do the work!

*Join the support group below and be sure to read the community guidelines!

Recovering from JW Emotionally Immature Parents

It’s unintentional abuse.
(*for some of us)

It’s just a fact.

Another fact for me is that my parents STILL did an amazing job regardless. Their children and grandchildren turned out, 'okay' overall.

So, why should my parents see the issues?

Another interesting fact to note is the following: Who are our current elders in America? Many are among the generation that had to decide to either go to jail or go to the Vietnam War. They are currently training younger elders. (My dad wasn’t baptized yet, so he went to the war and to college, and I have seen the jealousy that has come from that. My dad has a degree!!! Some other dads were NEVER able to find good employment because of their records.)

Sounds like community trauma to me?

💡My point is that unintentional abuse is still abuse.

I’m NO CONTACT with my JW elder dad, and it has been like that for years. So, it’s time to work on unpacking more so that I can finally get to a higher level of freedom, instead of grieving a parent who is still alive.

But I Escaped! Calling All Supporters to Stop Domestic Violence!

Trigger Warning--- Domestic Violence Discussed

Domestic Violence, Religious Abuse, and Generational Trauma were destroying me.

I could have died, but I didn't. Now, I'm here trying to help others.

Will you join me? https://www.gofundme.com/f/breaking-silence-through-theater

I ran to 17 elders for support over 16 years, including my own father, yet no one heard me. For so many years, I felt like a mute, screaming for help, and few truly heard, saw, or comforted me.

Now, my Life-Changing, Transformational stage play about my testimony is being adapted into a documentary film. I am extremely excited!

My fight and escape took a Village. Can you relate??? Help me save lives!

Consider contributing to bring my film to the screen so we, as a community, can save those who need saving.

Title: Sisters Living With Religious Trauma Syndrome®
Supervising Editor:
Janice Marie Collins, Ph.D.

About the film:
This documentary follows Mira Cassidy as she performs her play, Let Mia Tell It, and teaches the subsequent Trauma-Informed Workshop, “What’s Hurting You?” The documentary will highlight her journey of finding peace, and letting be as she shares her story of surviving domestic violence, religious trauma, childhood abuse, and self-harm. This one-woman stage play is performed as a moving monologue show that is a testimonial about the strength it takes to become yourself while overcoming cycles of abuse.

Sis, whatever you are feeling, good or “bad,” is okay. It’s okay if you feel confused, angry, distraught, betrayed, happy, or excited.
We are all different.

The facts are, there has been a lot of major changes occurring in the last few years, and some of us are not adjusting well. This is normal. You are not broken. There is nothing wrong with you.

These changes are a lot. You are allowed to feel whatever you need to feel. It doesn’t mean that you lack faith or that Jehovah is upset with you. Almighty God is greater than our hearts, and He knows all things, sis.

Please focus on His mercy.

His wisdom.

Jehovah God is a just God. His thoughts are not man’s thoughts.
