I attended the first meeting in January thinking I might be able to participate because I didnโ€™t live in Wilmington but thank you Jesus that it worked out! From every Sunday practice until pageant day I worked harder than I ever have before and truly left it in Gods hands. That night of the pageant my life changed forever. I placed 2nd runner up, receiving my first ever scholarship money and stood beside girls who soon became my best friends! From the moment I was chosen to be on the princess court I was ready to serve Wilmington with pride! While leading up the Azalea Festival week I had the opportunity to attend a committee meeting, meet the Lieutenant Governor of NC, and plan so many cute outfits for the festival! Then the most special week came, it was Azalea Fest! I literally felt like royalty all week, from being transported in a convoy to every event, meeting so many that looked up to us, and ofc being with the Queen herself! I started the week with attending the Queens coronation, to community day and Lil Jon on Thursday, then ribbon cutting, garden party, queens dance party, and Dustin Lynch concert on Friday, and finishing the week with the parade, street fair and fireworks! The best part of it all was meeting the amazing Elaine Hendrix! I am a huge fan of dancing with the stars so when I found out she was our queen I literally cried. So honored to have meet her and she was a true inspiration throughout the whole week! I created such a tight bond with these girls when we were literally together for only four days and I will cherish the memories we made together! I was so sad to leave them knowing we would never be together doing this same thing again. This week was a once in a lifetime opportunity and Iโ€™m so grateful I was chosen to represent this beautiful city. I want to thank God for putting this in my life and giving me these new relationships and memories! I will forever miss this week, till next year Azalea Fest! #azaleafest by @miss.ella.lynch
