I’m Marialuisa, though many know me as Miss Califox and I’m proud and honored to be co-founder of the Salinas Retro Roses. Born and raised in Salinas, my journey hasn’t always been easy. As a single mother who has faced many life challenges, every obstacle and second chance has helped shape the resilient woman I am today.

What started as a love for vintage style has grown into something much greater — a platform to share my story, advocate for women, and give back to the community that raised me. To me, this is about more than glamour. It’s about sisterhood, culture, resilience, and empowering women to find their strength, own their voice, and know they are never alone. 🌹 by @miss_califox

We are The Salinas Retro Roses 🌹

This page was created to empower women of all sizes, all backgrounds, and all stories.

A space where we celebrate confidence, sisterhood, and the beauty that comes from embracing who we are. Inspired by vintage pin-up style and rooted in the culture and pride of Salinas, this is more than just a look — it’s a community.

Salinas Retro Roses is about uplifting one another, creating a sisterhood, and reminding every woman that beauty, strength, and confidence come in every shape and size.

From the fields to the streets,
we represent Salinas with pride. 🌹

Our very first shoot as a group and being featured in the @atomicbeautiesmagazine

What a fun and memorable experience this shoot was for all of us. We had the honor of borrowing this beautiful classic from Rafa, and even more special, we had the opportunity to bring this shoot to life right here in our hometown of Salinas.

Being able to represent and celebrate our town through vintage style, sisterhood, and a little pinup glamour makes this one extra special.

Between organizing community events, supporting local causes, and participating in events throughout our community, we always try to make time for moments like these. Because it’s not just about the work we do, it’s also about the friendships we build, the memories we create, and the fun we share along the way.

Here’s to our first group magazine feature and to many more group shoots, adventures, and memories with our Salinas Retro Roses team!

Want a copy? You can purchase this magazine through @atomicbeautiesmagazine Linktree, available on their Instagram page. Be sure to grab yours and check out our very first feature!

Such a fun time at @tachipalace. This year, I decided to go a little more original and take a trip down memory lane. Growing up, I loved watching Popeye with my dad, so dressing up as Olive Oyl brought back some childhood memories. I had so much fun putting my own pinup twist on the character while keeping it true to the era with victory rolls.

I also had the opportunity to capture a new picture with Joseph from @tachipalace . It’s been three years since our last photo, and we’ve officially decided to make it a yearly Hallows Eve tradition! Looking forward to keeping this little tradition alive every year. ☺️

Grateful for our team and all the hard work we put in behind the scenes to prepare for our events.
One thing is for sure, we never forget to have a good time along the way! We work hard, we laugh, we make memories, and we keep each other going.
Because at the end of the day, we remember why we do what we do: for our community, for our people, and most of all, for each other.
This is more than just planning events, it’s about sisterhood, camaraderie, and creating something meaningful together.
So thankful for my team and this journey we’re building together. Salinas Retro Roses, where we work hard, love harder, and always make time to have a little fun! 🌹✨

Spain gave me more than beautiful places,it gave me perspective.
Walking the Camino de Santiago reminded me that life’s greatest journeys are measured not by miles, but by the people beside us. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to experience this adventure with my son, creating memories and strengthening a bond I’ll always treasure.
From Madrid to Santiago de Compostela, Murcia, Granada, and Toledo, every step was filled with history, gratitude, and reflection.
Camino, thank you for the lessons.
Thank you @arturo600548 for including me in this wonderful trip and the amazing Camino.
A full heart, unforgettable memories, and endless thanks. ❤️🇪🇸✨ #CaminoDeSantiago #Grateful #Spain #Family #Reflection BuenCamino by @miss_califox

Everyone welcome our newest member, Sweetz ✨🌹

“Hi everyone! My name is Lena, AKA Sweetz. Life has taken me on a journey filled with life lessons, growth, and being blessed with a second chance at life through adoption by my parents — may they rest in peace — and ever since, I’ve carried a deep appreciation for love, acceptance, and the people who believe in us when we may not yet believe in ourselves. Growing up between states and between parents taught me how to survive, adapt, and keep pushing forward no matter what life brings.

I’m a proud mother of three amazing children who have taught me patience, strength, and how to trust the process — even without an instruction manual. I’ve always loved the vintage era and the confidence and uniqueness it brings, allowing us to express ourselves in positive and empowering ways.

I’m also a proud VW owner alongside my best friend Lokey64 and our VW family at @calicoastcruisers_vw_cc . Like our cars, I’m still under construction and growing every day.

Being part of The Salinas Retro Roses is truly an honor. I feel blessed to be surrounded by genuine and supportive women who believe in uplifting one another and giving back to the community. Someone once took a chance on me and believed in me, and now I hope to do the same for others.” by @miss_califox

Our first girls day trip 💖
We celebrated an early Mother’s Day and my mom’s birthday surrounded by love, laughter, and quality time together.
Moms deserve more than flowers and cake, they deserve time to relax, recharge, and feel appreciated for everything they carry on their shoulders, often more than we realize.
Not only was I grateful to spend this special time with my mother, who I’m blessed to have such an amazing relationship with, but I also got to spend the day with my sister, my two daughters, and my grandbaby. Moments like this are rare because life gets busy for all of us, but I’m so thankful we made it happen.
It was such a beautiful, relaxing day filled with memories I’ll cherish forever 🫶 by @miss_califox

Fun times were had ☺️🚢
First time going on a cruise and not just any cruise, but @theoldschoolcruise! The highlight for me was seeing @officialclubnouveau live 🔥 definitely one for the books.
Met a lot of rad people met @mr_angel_baby & @trinoxadam .
made unforgettable memories. Until next time ✨
I also got to visit the @thequeenmary in Long Beach and did the graveyard tour 👻 highly recommend if you’re in the area. The ship has so much history, and the ghost encounters and stories I heard made it even more unforgettable.

Today I say goodbye to my 30s and step into a new decade.
My 30s taught me so much ,how to pause, how to grow in wisdom, how to navigate loss, and how to stop being so apologetic for who I am. It taught me self-love, self-worth, and most of all… freedom.
I’m incredibly grateful for this life, for my family, my children, my grandson and for the friendships that have stood by me through all my ups and downs.
Here’s to the new chapters ahead and everything still waiting for me. ✨ Cheers to 40. 🥂
